apple ripped off this OPEN idea in ios8 :( as have many other "original" app developers

but this is an OPEN STANDARD: Jingle, SIP, XMPP

This, too, is an excellent idea! Could IAX2 be used to combat mobile NAT misery?

This would also please "green" "thinkers" the useful idiots to those whose goal of world control through monetary policy dominion could pitch this under their "use less" energy campaign.

        > this could save lives

replaces texting with hands free verbal notes

        must have!

        > codex

        think you mean codecs

I would always use Wide Band codec on LTE: I prefer audio fidelity

        @developers

Jitsi is f/OSS, free open source, application with mature XMPP and SIP.

Jingle audio blurbs is a more elegant option than legacy push to talk.

Jingle Audio Blurbs can easily be a hands free solution.

        this could save lives

audio description of issues instead of fiddley typing or voice to text fails.

will need options for those not grandfathered with unlimited data

but 8kHz silk does not use much bandwidth

allow poster to arrange codex preference

maybe offer merely three codex choices for easier server teanscoding to LOW speed device and voice to text cloud service

        WideBand

        gsm

        8kHz mono

        ...

but more codec options for friends/groups/travelbuddies
