Routes avoiding London Congestion Charge
Routes avoiding London's Congestion Charge option would be very handy.
Great thinking! The issue you raised has been addressed in a recent redesign. Hope you like it!

Searched all over to find out why I had been led straight across the CC zone, although
1. I had checked my destination was a little outside of the zone
2. my preferences had set Avoid toll roads in Navigation
It seems that the app is not as useful as expected for London driving. -

Yes agreed, I have been led into the congestion zone before by Waze thinking the toll roads would cover it

I never know if the route I’ve chosen is going through the congestion charge zone. Some kind of warning either before you set off or during the trip should be featured

Add option to avoid congestion zone charges. On Google Maps if you activate “ avoid tolls” then it only suggests routes that do not enter the zone. On Waize the routes go into the zone even when avoid tolls is active.

Hi there - since your update to include avoidance of the ULEZ in London, the app keeps wanting to route me through the congestion charge. I'm ULEZ complaint, but DO NOT want to drive through the CC - I can't find a way to make the map keep avoiding toll roads since the ULEZ update. I ended up driving through the CC zone recently, and assumed it may have been moved, but didn't realise it was a fault with Waze until too late.

Click avoid toll and it wants me to g through congestion. Google maps is ok with it but does offer speed restriction updates. Thought these guys are the same thing now?

Add a reminder to pay the toll within 24 hours.

Please let people know if their route will enter the London congestion zone, and provide a link to more information. It is not always adequately signed if you are driving around the edges and the fine if you mess up is idiotically high (£80), so please help us avoid this.

Although congestion charge is displayed on the app, there is no way to know if I am going through the dartford crossing charge zones

Completely agree. It tried to take me on a short detour down a side street to avoid perhaps 100 yards of heavy traffic. If I hadn’t realised, this would have cost me £21.50, as I have a diesel car. It would have saved me max 5 minutes.

This would be such a plus

Congestion charge is becoming more strict soon, "Ultra low emissions zone" so this is more urgent. ULEZ likey to grow in size soon.
There is also a London Low Emissions Zone affecting some vehicles, this is larger than the current Congestion Charge zone.
There is also a zone in Durham, and Dartford crossing is now also tolled the same way as London congestion charge.

On Wednesday I travelled to the tower hill coach and car park. I popped it into Waze and it said I would arrive at 1825, which was quite late but not at all unreasonable for driving into London. Being that that car park is about 200m into the congestion charge I felt safe that I wouldn't arrive before 1800 and be charged (and if conditions changed and it started showing too early, I could stop and hang about). The ETA would change occasionally as I drove in but never dropping below 1800. At 1745 I was approaching the entry to the congestion charge, Tower Bridge, but, once again, 15 minutes to get across Tower Bridge is not unheard of. Then it made me do a weird left turn followed by another. At least one of these was onto a bus route and, more importantly, I realised that Waze was planning to make me circle round three small roads for 15 minutes before letting me into the congestion charge (I had avoid toll roads on, after all). I had no choice but to enter the charge.
It was already evening and I had something to do that night so I wasn't able to pay the £11.50 charge and that bumps it to a £14 charge. I never normally enter the congestion charge zone and was very busy and tired the next day so forget to pay. Now I'm looking at a £65 fine largely because Waze has some insane routing logic that things driving in circles is sensible.
Had I been told that the route would be taking me into the congestion charge at any point I would have either left later or stopped mid route, so please make that happen. I'll be here waiting for a PCN to come through so I can pay £65 for my free app.

This is critical. If directing a driver into a zone that charges you 11GBP per day isn't considered a 'toll road,' not sure what is.

Bonjour.

Merci.

+1 here, currently the avoid toll roads option leads the user in the Congestion Charge zone.
