Adding Roadside Animal detection system to Waze as a feature will help reduce animal roadkill problem.
Roadside Animal Detection (RADAR) systems – A computerized signs with flashing light stripped when an animal breaks a light beam . These can reduce collisions with large animals. These alerts and captured images can also be sent to different GPS apps like Waze, so that drivers coming by on that road can be alerted through their GPS apps and slow down when crossing that area.

Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Add "Roadkill" back! 1000's of Wazers are asking the same question! Do you not listen to your followers? Geez!

They took away our ability to report animals by the roadside in the app. They certainly won’t be implementing something this technologically advanced any time soon! It appears they are going backwards.

This was very helpful feature, please bring it back.
Driving on I95 in South Carolina there were deer all over the side of the road... -

Brink back the “Roadkill” and “Animals on Shoulder” features please. Both of these have helped me avoid a collision…

Bonjour,
Il faudrait remettre le bouton animal décédé sur la route
et ajouter animal errant, j'ai plus d'une fois voulu l'indiquer sur la carte mais cela n'existe pas !! et éviterait beaucoup d'accidents et d'animaux tués !The roadkill button should be put back on the map,
and add "stray animal", more than once I wanted to indicate it on the map but it doesn't exist!! and would avoid many accidents and animal deaths! -

I would really like to see the option to report animals on the side of the road (critical for drivers in areas with a large deer population as these animals can become hazards) return to the reporting options. Roadkill would be nice too but I guess “object in road” will do.

Why did you remove Hazard animals nearby?

Hi Waze,
I work for a local council in NSW and we are trying to obtain data on wildlife road kills including locations, types of wildlife etc. Is this something your system would capture and be able to assist us with. If we are able to better understand these issues we can then ensure we focus our efforts to “Hot Spot” areas such as, virtual fencing or other controls to prevent wildlife entering high risk traffic areas.
My email is tony.pearman@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au
Thank you and any assistance or reply would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Tony

Where did the animal on shouldet button go?
Updated version doesn’t show animal as an option.
I drive thru rural areas, woods, etc.
I used to be able to report deer, loose cows, groundhogs, turkeys, etc -

My take on this feature is that it could be a "Permanent Animal Crossing Warning". Since Waze already has the data to know where animals usually cross. Or it can encourage users to report it. Safer for humans and for animals.

This feature would be great if added

This feature would make me use Waze by default, specially when coming to a new area. As it stand now, I mostly use Google Maps

Similar to how you show a more permanent warning for when approaching a rail road track. At this point you should have data to know where animal crossings are (thanks to users’ reports), so you could warn drivers in a more permanent manner that this area has animals crossing. This would protect both the animals and the drivers, since drivers wouldn’t make risky, fast movements to avoid hitting animals. Drivers would slow down way before the dangerous area. We can encourage drivers to report animals sightings and roadkills so we know even more accurately where animals cross, to help protect even more animals in the future. I unfortunately witnessed a rabbit crashing into a car’s side, recently, and hoped I could have done more for it…
This goes in line with your "Permanent Hazards" new feature. In that case, you'd only need to add an option for users to report these kinds of animal crossings.
But the next best step would be that you automatically make a guess to where animal crossings are, based on user reports, and suggest users to slow down.

The recent update took animals out of hazard options when using Android connected to car. I saw it in the app when I disconnect from car but it doesn't show up on my car screen when connected anymore.
Also, like MANY others say PLEASE add an option to put animals ON ROAD.
On another note, much needed add stop to route!
