Adding Roadside Animal detection system to Waze as a feature will help reduce animal roadkill problem.
Roadside Animal Detection (RADAR) systems – A computerized signs with flashing light stripped when an animal breaks a light beam . These can reduce collisions with large animals. These alerts and captured images can also be sent to different GPS apps like Waze, so that drivers coming by on that road can be alerted through their GPS apps and slow down when crossing that area.

Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Can we please include a animal crossing notificagion along the highways without barriers to at least do our part to minimisd animal death in the highway?
Just reminding drivers that way I'd say is good publicity to what happened recently regarding the tapir matter.

Be able to input an animal that it is seen in the road into the waze app the same way police cars are inputted. This would decrease the amount of roadkill in the road because drivers will know to slow down for an animal (turtles will sit in the road for hours).

In Nordic countries there are a lot of moose/reindeer warning signs along the road. This kind of alert could be very useful when you are driving, like speedometers, especially in bad weather conditions. A moose can weigh 700kg and a collision with one of them can be deadly. At the moment some navigators have this function.

My idea is adding a Roadkill icon. When killed on the icon three other options would pop up, killed severely injured, and injured, then when you click send you would not only have it notify people using the app but also wildlife rescue places.

I am a wildlife biologist. Deer are creatures of habit, but those habits change with time of year and time of day, as well as geography. If people mapped deer sightings on the road, collisions or near-collisions in real time, you could build a model to predict likelihood of deer on the road based on the location/time/time of year. Mapping a deer sighting is not much use. But thousands of entries could build a predictive model for high likelihood hazards based on location and time. Deer crossing signs are OK, but they really only have value at certain times of the day and year. Waze has the capability, if enough people enter data, to make a much more useful feature. With each passing year it could become better and better. It would help drivers know when to be vigilant, which is valuable always, but especially when there is reduced visibility.
Just as one observer on a regular commute in Pennsylvania, I am able to predict in advance the places, time and month I most likely will encounter deer.

Waze how bout you a another feather like spotting deer on the road or shoulder. I think this will help people know what to expect on them foggy nights and prevent accidents caused by deer.

Deer Icon appears when reports are received, operator can query ("button" push/tap icon), colored sections of map appear along route; white = no activity reported, yellow = animals seen in vicinity of/on road, red = carcass seen near road, collision witnessed/occurred.
Algorithm should use real time and historical data, e.g. accumulated reports over last 3 weeks. Map would return to normal color scheme 5 secs after query. -

Ulteriori segnalazioni sono animali che si muovono lungo la strada e strade ricoperte da fango e terra ( magari lasciati da un trattore )

I believe that changing the name from "Roadkill" to "Deceased Wildlife" will bring more humanity of explaining the action of accidentally killing a "living thing" on the road. I want future generations to embrace the understanding that those animals are also part of this world and that unfortunately were killed by mistake and should not just be treated as just a "roadkill". I don't think anybody wants to purposely kill a dear or any other wildlife on the road at the risk of loosing his or her own life. In my view, the term "roadkill" takes away the humanity of such horrible actions.

Keep Road Kill - is one of the more humorous comments I’ve heard. Also I hit a huge dead dog on night in a sports car and I went up on two wheels. This can be dangerous or humorous and either way it’s useful😢😜

This is a great idea! It’ll help save the animals and cause less accidents!

Use your data to inform users about high road kill areas.
This results in cautionary driving in these areas, less accidents/injuries due to animals in the road, and, it’ll save these animals from getting killed.

Bonjour,
