Prefer main roads
Please install main roads button, so in cities I take main roads instead of all those side roads just to save a minute but burn way more petroleum and drive zip zag. So if the roads will be similar time waze would preafare main roads, if time would be different fore 5 minutes and more it would take side roads. This would help especially on long journies, we're I can not zoom in every little city all the time.

waze takes you to the city center to save a few minutes. if I'm in a place I don't know, waze should aim to direct you towards large, smooth and fast roads

Waze always seems to choose little back roads to save 2 minutes when it’s actually quicker to stay on main roads. We need a preference to make Waze prefer main roads provided the time lost is minimal. Badly need this!

Give "main ruote" option.
For example, when driving home I have two highways and the local streets to choose from. Waze always suggests the streets on all their route options. I "add a stop" that forces Waze to look into the other routes, and sometimes the route is quicker, or only one or two minutes slower, but MUCH more preferable than taking streets (which with traffic lights and double parked cars ends up taking 10% longer).
Can Waze give "main route" option so we can select highway X, highway Y, street Z -

We should have the option to select from straight line navigation and actual street navigation because a lot of times when we enter a destination it could be 3 miles away but once you hit the Star button it changes to 10 to 15 miles away the straight line navigation would be great if we could drive in a straight line to that destination but that is something that rarely happens and I don’t know if this has been brought up before I cannot find it but you should ask your users if this is something that they would want I believe there are a lot of people that feel this way I just don’t know where to send their complaints

Further comment - towing the caravan in December 2021 - ultimate nightmare!
A303 dual carriageway closed in both directions. Route took us into a housing estate - not a problem.
Problem came when the road became several miles of single track lane, with small passing places! Towing a caraan along such a lane, in the dark, in Winter, with oncoming vehicles, and traffic building up behind ... it was definitely a miracle that I didn't end up getting completely stuck, and blocking the whole road ...Pleae please please, allow us to take vehicle size and type into consideration ... I've had this in the past on other satnav systems. Seriously considering giving up on Waze (much as I love it generally) and buying a dedicated Garmin system which allows me to specify vehicle type etc. and avoid inappropriate roads!

When towing a caravan, it is my worst nightmare to be given a route that goes nown lanes which are not wide enough for me to get through. This would also apply to drivers of larger vehicles e.g. lorries.

When towing my caravan, I want the option for my route to avoid narrow lanes, and travel on main roads whenever possible.

Waze needs a routing option that sets a priority for using Motorway, A and B roads over unclassified roads, only using the later for the last leg to the destination when needed.
Current Waze will include very narrow and winding roads if it believe it is faster or shorter, when in reality, most people would prefer to stay on main roads, even if it is slightly longer.
Ideally the option would enable the independent priorities for M, A and B roads. -

Suggest you add a navigation mode. "Simple Drive or Safe Drive" This mode would have less turns and use main roads.

In many cases, residential streets have tried to reduce traffic flow with countless speed bumps and stop signs but Wayz keeps directing users to take these routes. At one time, before traffic abatement modifications were added, maybe this was a faster route but now, they aren’t.
I’m not an ambulance or fire truck or police car nor do I think I’m so important that a minute “saved” in my drive by “deeking” and weaving through residential side streets is time well spent.
I would much rather stay on major streets and wish this navigational option was available.
A “stay on major streets“ option is safer for drivers, better for local businesses and we won’t have to worry about kids/pedestrians stepping into our path on those narrow residential streets.

Track user habits and know that one chose same way every day instead of 3 minutes shorter one. Offer this route first and if this route is in trouble, stick it with marker (like Avoid, accident!).
Why: every comuter has 2-3 known ways, but instantly taking one of them (no left turn, no zipping on it, no bumbers, allways on main road...) BUT if waze just dont show this road first, we dont know, if its just for one minute time lost (which no one cares), or its major accident there and we should really avoid it.

Good day,
On urban roads, it often happens that Waze takes me sometimes to narrow roads with bumpers, with lots of traffic lights just to save me a minute of driving.
It's the same on long-distance roads, it takes me to narrow two-way roads sometimes twisting where driving is more dangerous and at night Roads without lighting just to save me 3 minutes.
It should be possible for the user to set a preference for the main roads (which are usually wider with one-way routes) where he will decide if he is willing to travel and extend the time by a certain percentage determined by him (say 10% more time in return for driving on main roads).
I'm a software engineer by profession and know that development is not easy, especially the diagnosis between a "bad" road to its alternative, but it is certainly a feasible task for the Waze team.I would appreciate your response.
Best regards,

My route to work takes me to a parking garage that is accessible only from a one-way street. There is a two-way alley behind the building that leads to the one-way street, but it is on the WRONG side of the garage curb cut. Every morning Waze tells me to turn down the alley. If I did, I would have 3 choices, none of which is acceptable: 1. turn left and drive the wrong way on a one-way street; 2. drive on the sidewalk; or 3. go around the block, by-pass the alley and turn on the street that actually leads to the one-way street where the garage is located. None of these is acceptable. Why does Waze insist on telling me to turn into the alley? Just because a two-way alley exists doesn't mean it's a good idea to drive through it, especially when it doesn't lead to my destination. Waze knows the address of the parking garage, and it knows where the one-way street and alley are located in relation to that address. Waze should know that the alley isn't a viable option to access the garage and shouldn't direct users down the alley to get there.
