This astrocity of bullshit has gotten so old and it's absolutely unacceptable for this issue to continue all wazers like to be notified of incidents, police especially and any other alerts but what I can't understand is that Google Maps owns Waze and Google Maps stays in the background without ever turning itself off but yet waze can't do that!! absolute bullshit!! If this just isn't possible the least you can do is let us know then it'll be okay and we can accept it. I drive an 18-wheeler and I drive up to 11 hours a day everyday and travel through four to five different states a lot of time and it's crucial to have the police alert because who wants to give a cop the satisfaction of a ticket!! A pissed off wazer!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE modify Waze so the social button (used for tagging, etc) or any other features can be disabled until needed. The static elements of the Waze display have destroyed thousands of cell phone screens with irreversible screen burn in. Perhaps it could be brought up by double tapping or something else. Also, there needs to be a way to prevent Waze from shutting down when we turn off the screen to prevent this burn in. I am seriously considering canceling my account if this issue is not resolved.

Echoing everyone else's comments about using Waze through bluetooth when riding the motorcycle.

Sometimes waze cannot calculate route or the route provided is inefficient I therefore must use another app. However I have waze open for traffic camera alerts. Alerts will only when waze is in foreground not background. Frustrating

That is really an issue when using Waze on a motorcycle. If you just lock the screen to preserve your battery and put the phone in your pocket, expecting directions through your Bluetooth headset, at the first time it needs to recalculate the route it dies.

Waze app was working great until I upgraded to Iphone 7 plus and the newest software version 10.2. I have is set to play through my bluetooth. There is no audio when Waze is running in background - it used to play out of the phone speaker if it was running in the background BUT NOW nothing - HELP - is this a Wave problem or an Iphone problem?

I consistently have an issue with Waze, it suddenly stops navigating and the app closes mid-route while I'm driving. There is no audio or visual notification and I don't realize it has stopped until I check my phone.

This is the only app that randomly shuts down. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a work-around to prevent mid-route shut off?

For the last week, My Waze keeps turning itself off after only a few minutes. Any advise how to keep it going when it is giving me directions? Any fix for this?

I use waze to navigate when driving my motorcycle and receiving directions by bluetooth audio on my helmet. Its silly to keep my phone unlocked and with waze in foreground inside my pocket, sometimes when I put my hands on legs I accidentally turn off waze

Prevent auto-lock
This option prevents your phone from auto locking even if you have set it to lock after some period of time.

When enabled, your screen will always stay on with Waze running in the foreground.

To turn this feature on or off, please:
Tap the Menu icon menu icon and then the Settings wheel settings icon .
Click on General.
Check or uncheck Prevent Auto-Lock.
Helpful Tip: Both the display and GPS receiver consume a lot of battery power. Therefore it may be necessary to connect your mobile device to a power source to prevent draining the battery.

The light in the app it self shout off after one minut I have to toutch the screen for the light to come back

It used to be fine but now quits giving directions if I receive a text or anything takes Waze out of focus. Very annoying

My Waze app was great but now continues to cut off. I am using the same I pad I have always used. What is the problem?

wow, this is from 2012... still no improvement. just wow. Because of this I have to use google maps, and be ready for some off-roading.

Same here. I shut the display when I'm low on battery and after a while it simply stops giving directions, without any warning. It happens when you need it most. Frustrating.

I'm losing points like crazy. It even shuts down if it's the only app running but i turn my screen off. This is maddening. I'd like to see it fixed.

Since it does shut down in the background unexpectedly sometimes, it would be great if it announced that it is closing outload so I'd be aware of that.

Same here. Makes me very angry riding a bike and realising my turn is long gone just because Waze cant run in background. Thought it was RAM usage, but no, 2GB free on another phone.
