it would help to have a test of Waze's voice. Like when touching a direction Waze could say that direction as a test.
Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2023 and this idea won't be implemented this year. We hope to have it included in our plans for later years and will keep you posted. Thanks!

Since there seems to be a problem with Waze changing the voice you selected arbitrarily, having a test feature on the voice choice is important. I have had Waze change my voice choice at least three times. When I go in to change the voice choice back to my choice, my choice is still the voice selected. So how do I make sure my voice choice is my voice choice now? Having a test feature is necessary now.

Wow, such a natural thing to have when choosing/setting Waze and this doesn't exist already.
Not only it doesn't exist but it's set to Not Planned OR Not right now. Just Wow....

Waze comment about changing the status of this to "not right now" is there way of saying 'we don't care'.
It's a joke this feture has to even be requested. -

That's simply a pity. Also that the loudness of the voice can't be boosted. Google Maps does this for years.

Eight years. EIGHT years. EIGHT _YEARS_! Just precisely how far do you have your head up your backside that you haven't even assigned an intern code-monkey to this at some point in the last eight flipping years? Do you understand, at _ANY_ level, how stupid this makes your team look? In pretty much ANY app, for ANY reason, when the user makes a preference change, there is some simple way to immediately experience that preference change. Would you leave "language selection" or "dark mode" settings without some way to experience them BEFORE getting into a fully routed drive? NO. You let the user experience their choice immediately or almost immediately. Is your code base such garbage that it is actually DIFFICULT to get a selected voice to say something? I mean, it should just be adding "say('Hello, it's nice to meet you')". But how could it possibly take you -- and I know I'm getting extremely repetitive, but I have to say this again -- EIGHT DAMNED YEARS to do something that simple? Which suggests to me, a software engineer, that your code base is so hopelessly baroque and fragile that I shouldn't be trusting it with any decision making...

Please for the love of God don't give us 50 voice choices but no way to hear them without selecting everyone and then wait for waze to talk. So all the voice options are great but terribly unsafe to be driving in order to sample a voice.
Samples of audio files goes back to windows 3.1!!!!!
Google/waze get your **** together already

Can we at least have a sample of the voice we select to play when we click it so we can get an idea of what the sound is?

This seems like an essential feature that would be very easy to add

It would be very helpfull

So inconvenient and time consuming not being able to preview. I love the different voice options, makes my journey more interesting, and not a feature that would take long to add

Fine. I'm uninstalling until then. Do you know how long it would take to check all these out by just trying a different one each time I go somewhere? It's a little ridiculous. I mean, ringtones let you check them out. Why not this?

That's too bad.

This feature has been requested 7 years and seems like a ridiculously small implementation (just have the voice say 'Hi, would you like me to be your co-pilot?' or something when you select it in the settings?).
If you want to get fancy, have an option in the settings that disables the automatic previewing of voices or only preview the voice if a user keeps the name of the voice pressed for 1sec or something.I'd love to just add it myself to the code-base, if only Waze were open-source...

Definitely need a voice test button.

I could swear my previous version let you preview the voices. WTF happened???

It's not impossible, just mildly difficult.
Go to the voice settings (MyWaze/settings/Voice & sound/Waze voice).
Pick a voice.
X out of both open pages.
Tap My Waze.
Tap any previous destination.
When the voice starts, tap Stop. The voice will keep going for a second or two, and there, you've heard your sample.
Keep going until you find one you like.
My fav is Ben, for the street names and because the male voice cuts through the wind noise.
I use Terminator when Ben becomes a nag. -

I don't understand the reluctance to add a preview sample of the voices offered for selection. I just downloaded this app. This is a deal-breaker for me. Uninstalling.

Dude! C’mon! Stop adding voices and fix this feature.
