Don't want to have to allow access to my contacts to share a drive
In the new version, I can't enter an address or number anymore...and I'd really prefer not to sign over my entire contact list to waze. Can you reinstitute the message/email options in "share my drive"?
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

You folks have lost your fricking minds. NOBODY thinks that you should have access to one's contact list. Can't speak for others but I am showing my disgust with your new policy by 1) removing your app and 2) loading another competitor navigation app which doesn't have such draconian policies. Oh and thirdly, I am telling all my friends.to do the same SHAME ON YOU WAZE. YOU HAD A GOOD THING BUT YOU JUST BLEW IT!!!!.

You have no right to my contacts. I have deleted your app. When you come to your senses and change your invasive policy I may consider using your app again.

Bob - I am doing the same. There is no reason in Hell that Waze needs access to so much of my private information. I am uninstalling the app. GOOGLE Wise UP and give us the ability to select what permissions we want our apps to have. Something you took away in Android 5.1. Apple is too Restrictive and Android isn't enough. I hate to say it but good old Windows at least allows you to do whatever you want with your hardware and what people can see.

Just added and removed Waze on my new phone. What a shame this is a great app, but I will not give access to my contacts. Email me when you have corrected this and I'll reload.
Thanks

Was looking forward to using the app but way too invasive. Why do you ALWAYS need my location and all of my contacts?
Nope Nope Nope.....

It's my understanding that access to contacts is required if you want to register for the app. You can still use the app without registering, so you don't have to disclose your friends or work contacts. For me it's also a nonstarter to have to disclose my entire contact list in order to use the navigation app.

FRACK. Discovered too late the Waze default setting when upgrading phones was Contacts Access. I've turned it off, but the horse has left the barn and I see NO option to delete contacts. This is BS. I just want to see road conditions, I don't care about "see where your friends are when you're driving to the same place" or any other social media BS which I have more than I care to deal with already.

A new smartphone user looking into using Waze but way way too invasive for marginal gain.
I'd rather pay an annual fee. -

Wanted Waze, simply can't surrender my contact list. I will have to manage without you.

Accessing contacts is a deal-breaker. My company provides me with my iPhone and it contains all of our employees numbers. My contacts are my business. I would not disclose my personal friend's numbers either. Not an option, deal breaker.

No way Waze! You people are idiots. I used to love you. Now I hate you!

I agree with the others. You're losing a lot of supporters, Waze. Deleting the app now. Bye!

I am a healthcare professional and have some patient info in my contacts list on my business phone. I'm pretty sure its a HIPAA violation if I sign over my contacts list. Can't use this app!

Just tried to install Waze on my new iPhone and it now wants my contacts. Nope. Bye Waze, I loved you but forcing people to open up personal info for no reason is unethical.

Permissions you give an app when installing aren't necessarily for the company to access but, are more often to grant you the user the capability of using the app to say, scan your contacts.

I am trying to sign up for waze because I hear it is great. But I don't want to allow access to my contacts, at least not until I have some experience with waze. The initial setu doesn't have a way to sign up without allowing access to contacts. Is that intentional?

Just got my new Iphone 6s+ and found greedy Waze wanted ALL my contacts. Scew you! I just paid for the Telenav app to get around Waze. Too bad. it was great and I have Waze king status. But, NO MORE! (Also tired of being sent on side roads by Waze when the straight route would be fine.) Like the time i was going home on the NJ turnpike to north NJ and Waze wanted me to go into the holland tunnel into Manhattan and then out the GW bridge to NJ again. In cohoots with the Port authority to make toll $? Wouldnt be surprised!
Once a great underground app, it's been googleized into a restrictive, greedy pig. BYE! Hope the trade press catches wind of this.
