"Location services" for waze to be on "while using" instead of "always"
In your next update pls could you change "location services" for waze to be on "while using" instead of "always" as it is draining the battery. Apple suggested this will be one big saving on battery life.
Great news! The options for Location Services is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

Hello,
I don't have habe the option that has been provided as a solution: Waze->Settings->General->Location Reporting: turn off".
I have iOS 9.3.3 App version 4.6 on IPhone 6s Plus.

Problem apeared after I first let waze synchronyse my apointments from the calendar.
The solution given by Anon and rejecting waze to my calender and removing the apointments in waze solved the problem for me -

Agree with comments previously posted. Will stop using the app until "while using" is an option again.

It's for this reason I will NOT be installing this app.
Finally...people standing up and not putting up with this blatant invasion of privacy.
Just my 2 cents -

"While Using" is not an option for me, even after doing Waze->Settings->General->Location Reporting: turn off
iOS 9.3.2, Waze 4.6.00
My options in iOS under Location Services for Waze are: "Never", "Always". No third options, not even when I disable Waze calendar sync.
The battery drain is really bad. Untenable. I'm uninstalling until this issue is fixed.
The advice that keeps getting repeated on the forums is to disable calendar sync and disable location reporting, and the "While Using" option will appear. As of iOS 9.3.2 and Waze 4.6, this is NOT TRUE.

Okay Ive found out what and why this is always on. Waze is looking at where you are so it can say to you when you should leave to get to your next appointment. If you don't mind waze not telling you this. Then switch this off. Go into waze settings> general then switch off location change reporting. Then shut waze and you will see your location is no longer being used. This worked for me and my gf hope this works for you.

This is ridiculous. Stopped using the app because of it.

Anyone knows a similar app that doesnt drain battery life or invade privacy??

Waze will never implement this. Obviously they know it's an issue, but it's not an accident or a bug, they've deliberately set it up this way.

Me too

And, if there was a way to change is, like previous posts suggest: Waze config -> General -> Location change reporting -> Disable.. The current release 4.5.0.1 does NOT have that setting.

Not only is this an invasion of privacy, but it is a SAFETY issue! I like the app, but I refuse to allow any app access to my location at all times! Therefore, I often will WHILE DRIVING navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Waze and manually change the setting back to NEVER - because I am busy and often in a hurry! This dangerous situation is being facilitated by Waze's refusal to provide users with a standard, simple app feature.

Stopped using Waze for regular journeys because this was killing my phone. Wish I could contribute to the community but not at the expense of being able to use my phone!

This is the reason I stopped using Waze!
And until they bring back that feature, I'll never use the app again.
It's frustrating to see the battery draining and it's to much of a hustle to turn it on and off over and over again.
