  1. Share Permalink settings should persist between sessions

The new Permalink option has a checkbox to include or not include layers. This is great but whatever option you select should persist between sessions. I should not have to change it every time I open WME.

  2. Blocking the creation of an item if the corresponding layer is inactive

Editors frequently create an item, such as a Parking Place, only to realise later that there was already a Place at the same location. The initial Place was not visible because the "Place layer" was inactive.
WME does not allow creating closures when the Closure layer is inactive.
The same logic should apply for other types of items, perhaps all items.

  3. Add WME support for multiple satellite image layers

Currently WME only supports a single satellite (aerial) image layer. While this seems to most often provide the latest imagery and resolutions as good as 30cm per pixel I frequently find that it is sub optimal for mapping efforts - especially when the images are from months where foliage occludes features.

Google Earth provides the ability to choose from multiple satellite image layers. I often find better layers that allow the editor to:

    • improve the spacial accuracy of road segments

    • determine stop points for rural HN and RPP (driveway intersections)

    • ascertain whether a road segment is paved or not

  4. Pressing Enter on the "Add street road shield" screen should submit the form

Typing the shield value into the textboxes is the last thing you do on the "Add street road shield" screen, and it is automatic for users to hit "Enter" to submit the changes like you do when editing an address. Currently, it does nothing. Please change so that when you press enter on this screen the form is submitted.

  5. make geonodes easier to find

For really long straight segments, it can be a bit of a pain to find the little handle to make adjustments to the geometry as it is often entirely off-screen. This is especially noticeable now since we're making small adjustments to segments that formerly had no geonodes at all to bring them into better alignment for Falcon.

So as a suggestion - I was wondering how hard it would be to make a tweak to where there's always at least one "add geonode" handle visible on screen when a segment is selected?

At a minimum it would be helpful to…

  6. Left panel has limited space when a warning is in the panel

When a warning such as a segment is part of a junction box a is displayed in the left panel the warning does not scroll away in the current WME beta. The previous behavior used to allow this warning to be scrolled away. The new behavior is for this warning to stay persistent. The new behavior makes it so there is very limited space to see the segment properties. This is especially problematic when trying to edit things like lanes where it is necessary to see what lanes are being assigned to each road.

The suggestion is to revert the…

  7. WME Advanced Preferences - please correct defaults

"Draw new roads as two-way" and "Draw new roads with all turns allowed" should be on by default but are not. This will prevent a lot of mistakes by new editors.

  8. Update Request Management

The "Feed" tab can display pretty random URs and often not ones we need to follow up on. URs in remote areas often are missed.
To reduce response times from editors we need a spreadsheet type view for URs that can be filtered by Country, Province or City.
Filters by type and by editor, or no comments will also be very helpful.

  9. Make URLs in Map Comments clickable

Currently if you add a URL in the top comment box of a Map Comment it is not clickable. You have to save the map comment then add a URL as a conversation comment to get it to be clickable. Please make URLs in the top comment box clickable. This is the comment box that is editable after saving. Here is a link to picture of the problem. https://imgur.com/2Bz4fVt In the picture you can see the top https://www.waze.com/ is not underlined so you can't click it to open the URL. However, the bottom https://www.waze.com/ is underlined and you can click…

  10. Sub-tab is blank

The new WME version has impacted scripts/tabs that have multiple sub-tabs. If the tab has multiple sub-tabs, it will open and be blank. If you open another sub-tab then re-open the first sub-tab, it will show the content. But this will repeat every time. Here is a screen capture of the behavior:

  11. Floating Geometry Handles for Area Places

In WME it was recently introduced to have floating geometry handles to create new geo nodes. This is very convenient, and it would be great if the same could be implemented for Area Places.

  12. Issue Tracker's "Search Area" button gets in the way

Please move the "Search Area" button or make it hide when attempting to add a road or anything from the top bar.

    WHY?

The "Search Area" button gets in the way when trying to add a road.

Issue Tracker must be set to Map Area and the "update results" box must be unchecked.
Hover over Road and then drag down over the "Search Area" button.

  13. Press enter to save closure

Please add the ability to press enter when adding/editing a closure to save it. This will make it quicker to add and edit closures, especially when they need editing en masse

  14. Allow linking of more Google places

    Hi Guys,
Since some time we can now add multiple entrances to a Waze place (up to 20). Up till now we are only able to link a maximum of 4 google places. It would be nice if this restriction could be removed.

Very often all entrances of a building are mapped in Google Maps. Since these are often more than 4 we ran into this limit much more quickly. This happens at Airports, Train stations, Soccer stadiums, Shopping centers, etc..

  15. Create "Editor Comments" for info and notes in WME

Create a way of commenting on the Editor so that the comment is visible to other editors. A way of communicating and sharing what needs to be done. It would look like a balloon, just like Map Problems and Update Requests, but it would be created by an Editor that's got something to say to other editors. Comments are also enabled.

    For example:
Editor1: "I think this Street should be changed to Primary. What do you think?"
Editor2: "I drive through it everyday and I agree."

    -

Editor1: "Any editors living here can confirm if this street's name is correct?"…

  16. Limit name input in event mode

Technically, the name of an MTE is limited to a specific length (number of chars).
But nevertheless, I can type longer MTE names into the name field of a new MTE.

Sometimes I have trial&error situations because of that. I simply have to test whether a name is still short enough by trying to save the name. If the name is too long, I get the error displayed that finally shows it.

It would be way easier if the WME could directly stop the input when the maximum name length is reached.

  17. Area Managers Listed in WME

There is a new function in WME Beta to display Area Managers at the top of the map area. The issue is that currently, if there are more than 2 Area Managers that cover an area (which is not uncommon at all), all the editor will see is "Multiple Managers". 2 or less will show the names of the Area Managers.

We would like to suggest that when you hover over "Multiple Managers" that a list will show on the screen of all the Area Managers. When you hover over one of the names in the list, it will pop…

  18. Include vehicle type in UR

Sometimes we get UR we cannot properly handle, because the vehicule type is missing. Sometimes roads are restricted for taxi only, and we get lot of user reports 'like turn not allowed'. We suspect the user have waze set in taxi mode, while they driving their own private car.
If the user report contains that info, it would be easier to identify those UR and to give them with the right answer.

  19. Elevation drop down opened on Ground level

If clicking on Elevation the drop down opens with 9, 8, 7.... It would be helpfull if the dropdown opened with Ground level in the middle so you can easily select 1, 2 or -1.

  20. Respect newlines/paragraphs in the initial base text of Map Comments

Please make WME respect newlines entered in the initial base text of a Map Comment. Currently, WME preserves newlines entered in the comments following the initial base text, but not in the base text itself. Paragraph structure makes text easier to read, so please let us use it when creating Map Comments.
