I do agree they're a bit ambiguous, but I think using descriptive words like congestion and slowdown would be worse. For example, you seem to think congestion is minor traffic and slowdown is in the middle, but I would think slowdown would be minor (like in a construction zone) and congestion would be slow-moving, more in-line with "heavy." I think this may be a case of people just using their best judgement and hopefully Waze is smart enough to determine the most commonly reported type and use that.

This is needed both to more accurately identify where they are and to avoid false positives. People report police when they see them driving, which leads to false positives. This is the best suggestion for this I've seen, as it gives a good recommendation for how to actually do this. It's basically the same thing I came up with, to continually update it based on estimation of their location based on the speed limit and on new reports, until a certain amount of time elapses with no new reports. Biggest problem would be accounting for where the police are in relation to the second (and third, and so on) driver when they like the report, not to mention the initial reporting driver.

As for tips, neat idea, but I wonder if it would just add more complexity for something few people would actually use. I honestly doubt I would tip anyone, as my payment is all the things I report to warn other drivers. We all help each other, and our payment is everyone else helping us.

People report police when they see them driving, which leads to false positives, but if there was a way to tell Waze there is a police car driving in the same or opposite direction, it could continually update it based on estimation of their location based on the speed limit and on new reports, until a certain amount of time elapses with no new reports.

There are other requests to be able to report police on the other side or in the middle, which I definitely agree needs to be added, but this request is especially important, because it allows users to be warned regardless of how it was reported. I'd rather get a few false positives than false negatives.

This is done by giving it a thumbs down, and when enough people do this it will go away. Allowing one person to remove it would give too much power to that one person.

My idea for this is to have deer/animal crossing warnings (cautions similar to when driving through construction zone) when driving through areas with relatively high reportings of deer crossings and/or more than one has been reported within a certain time frame, ideally user-configurable.

Maybe too complex, but when reporting a road that's snow-covered you could be required to estimate the depth of the snow, and with enough people doing this it could average the reports to determine the approximate depth, then there could be a setting where you can tell it to avoid roads with a certain amount of snow, e.g. 4+ inches.

There are several separate requests for a snow drift hazard. I wonder if an admin could merge them and the votes and comments?
