Client - how can we improve waze on your phone?
Welcome to our feedback page!
Before you get started please NOTE:
- There are two forums – one for cartouche (map editor) and the waze website, and the second for everything related to the waze client.
- Make sure your idea doesn’t exist yet before posting a new idea.

This is the place to post any suggestions, enhancements and things that bother you (please specify your phone OS – i.e. Android / iPhone / BB / WM / Symbian – when necessary)
For any ideas about the waze website and the cartouche – please visit our second forum:http://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59225-cartouche-map-editor-and-waze-com-website

Support map preloading for offline use
Add a way to preload maps for a state, region, or country, so we'll still have maps if we lose internet connection out in the middle of nowhere, or for those of us who have limited (or no) data plans.

Add pause option for stops
Add pause option to client, that could be activated when stopping by at a gas station or other places, so that heavy traffic is not indicated. It could unpause automatically when the car start moving

was not uploaded on 2.2, but still under consideration for the next version.

Save and later upload client data for areas with limited cell and/or Wi-Fi only users.
The amount of data saved currently is insufficient to allow mapping of vast rural areas. Saving this data when storage is available and later uploading will speed the completion of your goals.

This is already working, though not properly and all devices. We are working on improving waze behavior in areas where the connectivity is not good, however, you will still have to start a new waze session with a connection .

Allow declaring Toll Roads and the option to not navigate through them
Waze wants to route me through a toll road every day and can't seem to find an alternate route until I actually drive it. I want to be able to avoid Toll roads, which means tolls roads need to be able to be declared in the editor.

Use vehicle type
All over the world exist roads that are open or closed for various types of vehicles. Think touringcars and cabs, ambulances and trucks. Think high-occupancy-lanes, zero-emission-zones.
To implement this feature roads should get a list of allowed / disallowed vehicle types (default: all). Once roads get a maximum speed set, they might have different maximum speed for eg. trucks. Clients should get a possibility to select current vehicle type (default: car). This should influence the roads to use, the max speed to expect, overall traveltime.
Maybe special vehicle types could have special capabilities in Waze, like "delivery-car" that would suppress… more

Different scoreboards for editors, drivers and forum
It has been noticed before that the Waze-community is divided between editors and drivers; editors being the users that earn most of their points by editing, drivers are those that earn most of their points behind the steeringwheel.
Currently, the scoreboard seems to be dominated by drivers - the topnotch of these are probably truckers, spending their live on the road, driving maybe thousands km per week, making up to 20.000 pts. There is nothing wrong with that, we NEED drivers, and I do not want to suggest that they do not earn their points.
But for editors these are… more

GTalk integration
When Im running WAZE, set my GT status to "DnD - Driving by waze". So friends will not chat to me during driving. It make me peace and tell others about new navigation - WAZE.

Automatically switch off 'Record new road' feature
As an area manager, it is a headache to keep deleting small segments of road alongside existing roads, caused by GPS inaccuracies where a user has left the 'record new road' feature switched on. I think it would be a good idea to have the client automatically switch off the feature if the user has been travelling on an existing road for a set period of time, for example, 2 minutes.

New Report options
Please add following option for reporting:
Hazard -> Weather -> Ice On Road - REALLY important in my country
Hazard -> Weather -> Flooded Road - also REALLY important
Hazard -> On road -> Road Closed ahead - this could be abused, so should be discussed in function
Hazard -> On road -> Dangerous Curve - most are marked by road signs but driver could choose to get extra warning from Waze! for example it would really help when visibility is poor!!
Hazard -> On road -> Dangerous Intersection - maybe Black Point (a point where a lot of accidents… more

display only live-info and events relevant to the current route
Add option, that would:
- enforce event pop-ups (such as accidents, etc.) to show only if they happen on the current route to destination (no need to se events in radius when not on the route)
- display only number of events (under the icon with the red excl. mark) relevant to the current route to destination (this would help user open the live info only when there is a number indicating something going on on the route198 votes -
"Both lanes" reporting option
Add a "both lanes" option when reporting traffic jams, hazards, and accidents affecting both directions of travel at the same time.

re-route based on upcoming traffic conditions / congestions
While waze does show upcoming traffic condition on one's route it does not provide facility to automatically re-route the traveler around traffic congestion using surface streets or alternate highway/freeway.
This is essential to optimizing waypoint ordering/priority:
This ought be available in other-than a binary toggle (yes or no). While yes and no are suitable broad options, waze ought provider finer grained control of re-routing as it does now (faster or shorter). These should include
(1) time windows
(2) zones / areas
(3) specific roads / highways / freeways
(4) density of other Wazers
(5) using either / both wazer… more

Get railroads back!
I'd like to have railroads shown on the client with white-black dashed line.

Add ability to report gas prices
It would be nice if users could report gas prices... This would attract a LOT more wazers.
I don't mind having to manually enter the data, but reporting it could be as simple as taking a pic of the price sign with your phone, and on the server side, it gets interpreted and organized into grade of gas and price.
Wazers will then be able to search filtering out stations that have (or don't have) diesel, or if your vehicle requires higher octane, one will be able to filter out specific details to match their needs.

Display interstate/highway shields on client map.
Right now the live maps can display highway shields with limited functionality. Adding this ability to the client maps (and expanding its scope, as right now it is only partially functional) would really make it easier to orient yourself when viewing the map.
It would be nice if it was an option, as well... so you could disable it (like you can disable road goodies or other things) if you don't want to view them.

It coulb be interesting to add a "share destination" function. You send your destination to your friend and you could see how many km they have to do, when they will arrived etc.

Client Suggestion: Voice Recognition
I was driving from Las Vegas, NV to Fullerton, CA this past weekend. During the trip, I had a few hours to think of what client upgrades could be implemented into WAZE. Specifically, as the title of this thread suggests, I thought about Voice Recognition. This came about as I sent a report, but was unable to type a comment, thanks to texting and driving dangers.
Here is what I was thinking:
Voice Recognition would always be active while WAZE is active. Instead of pushing a button to activate Waze, what if a keyword was programmed to start the functionality.… more136 votes
