Display/report speedlimit

The speed limit is not only depending on the road type, which seems to be the case today. Would be practical to see the current speed limit, as well as report a speed-limit change. It's quite annoying when I send out a slow traffic report because of lower speed limit.

Really really need speed limit to appear on Waze, Wazer then can choose whether to be notified or not about the speed limit change.

i am ready to pay for that

I followed the link given below perporting that it has been accepted, but if I follow the link on *that* to some spreadsheet, it 'just shows some placeholders....nothing to show it has been approved, imo.

Note that Nokia Maps has had this feature for very many years.

Fully agree, but as indicated by vince that it is already approved, I took away my votes.

displayvspeed limit including allowing user to show reduced speed limit eg roadworks

Totally agree on the usage of the speed limit. I would even like more, have the capacity to watch speed signals and decipher them (in case of road construction, or whatever special event)

To anyone here: Good news !

If you check the Wishlist here: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Wishlist
Speed limit is listed and there is a reference to Ticket 180 with a clickable link. If you go there it says clearly that speed limitations were accepted by Waze on August 24th 2014 with the note: "Planned for future version."

So no need to keep giving more reasons, it's gonna happen ;)

we need speed limit to be visible on the road (red/Green color...) and why not a special sound (beep, beep...) if we are not OK...
        Thanks

Hi, we need speed limit to be visible on the road, and if we are exceeding or not, green and red color seems the good way on our speed data... Thanks

      • Anonymous commented  ·

Just display the actual speed limit next to our speed and if possible change color from green to red once we exceed the limit. Thanks for an excellent waze.

I would like to suggest an option to have a bigger display of speed - who knows, if there is a speed limit, to make it in a green color if the speed is OK, a yellow one for up to 9% above it and red and big if over 10% the speed limit -

I've been running Waze on my iPhone beside my Garmin Nuvi, and the one feature I noticed I miss is the speed limit icon on the display. It looks like the B&W speed limit sign on the road. As the speed limit changes for the area I am passing through, the sign updates. Yay meta-tagging! Anyway, there are many roads one turns on that do not reflect the speed limit for miles through signage, but my Garmin always reflects the current speed limit. That helps greatly, especially where Waze reflects a speed trap ahead. There is real estate in the Waze display to provide a small icon. Arguably more important for safe driving than the number of "friends" currently driving on the road.

Waze knows that a user is driving above the speed limit - it only issues a warning for speed cameras/traps if a user is exceeding the speed. So why not add a small graphic to the warning that states the speed limit for the camera. This does not require waze to collect or record any additional data, and there is space on the speed camera/trap warning to include a small graphic. So please: this would be a really neat addition to a great app.

I totally agree, speed limit are really necessary :
        1. To avoid sending false slow traffic reports.
        2. To know, when a speed control is announced, at which maximum speed we must drive (and avoid problems with the police).

Knowing the speed limit is knowing how risky is a road (when the limits are lowered, it often means there's a risk - pedestrians, dangerous roads, crossroads...).

      • DerekDerek commented  ·

Why don't we just allow users to add in speed limit data like they would any other report (police, hazard, etc.)? Until enough data is collected, allow users to verify the speed limit. I think that's a great way to collect this information easily!

Providing speed limit similar to what is on my stand alone GPS would be a huge improvement. Currently, I love all of the features of Waze but being able to show the speed limit for the major roads would make this even better. The speed limit signs here in the US are not always frequent and with the stand alone GPS, I always know what the current speed limit is.
