I agree, however, I drive a car/truck (not a motorcycle), but I think that having the option of turning the screen off is a great feature, specially on long drives. I don't like having to leave my screen on for hours & hours when all I need is a audio alert. If I need to see or report something, I could just touch the screen to turn it on...
This feature shouldn't be too difficult to add/implement, I have a GPS tracking app that will turn off the screen after a few minutes but will still track you & record info (ie: speed, elevation, coordinates, etc) while the screen is off. Turn on your phone/screen & it knows right where you are, showing current data.
I see the original post is just over 5 years ago & this feature is still not available...
