Waze banners hijack the simple functionality of CarPlay. Navigational banners interfere with clicking on CarPlay selections. They incessantly pop up with a direction, e.g. when I think I am selecting an option while in the Music or Podcast app, it selects the Waze pop-up banner. My car display does not allow it to be a touch screen while driving, so the only way I can select anything is using the joystick knob in my console. (For example, turning the joystick knob, I move the cursor to the "jump ahead" icon in Podcast, it highlights it and I proceed to press the knob to select it. At the very moment I am about to select it, the Waze banner pops up and pressing the knob selects the Waze banner. This takes me to Waze on my car display, and "jump ahead" I thought I was selecting in Podcast doesn't get selected.) In the most ideal scenario, I should only be looking at my screen for a very brief moment to find the option I want to select. But I have to keep trying to get rid of the banner so I can select what I wanted to select in the first place. This creates way too much distraction while driving and I am trying to keep my eyes on the road. I don't mind the banners popping up, but I would like the option of the banners being non-selectable and informational only. My car is a Mazda3 and I am using an iPhone 13 with iOS 15.
