    Blood donation is a critical part of our fragile healthcare ecosystem. There is no substitute for blood; it cannot be created in a lab, 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime, and blood can only be stored for 42 days, so the supply has to be constantly refreshed. Only 2% of the population that can donate do so. Most people say they have never donated because they haven't been asked. I believe that more people will be encouraged to donate by having notifications of places and opportunities to donate blood.
