I made a similar suggestion in the Waze Beta Community:
- I’d like to suggest that the Blocked Lane options be presented in a 3-column layout, rather than the current 3-row layout.
- The order of buttons would be “Left Lane | Center Lane | Right Lane”My suggestion solves this problem:
- Positioning the 3 options in a column layout makes it much easier to select the correct lane, even without looking.
- The driver can return their focus to the road much sooner, improving driver safety while also improving the accuracy of the report. In more words:
- The current layout requires the driver to read each button’s label, increasing the duration they are distracted. This is especially bad as they’re likely navigating the blocked lane at the same time and should be focused on the road as much as possible.
- The current layout lists the lanes in a strange order: “Left, Right, Center lane”. This isn’t intuitive and likely results in many drivers making mistakes when reporting a blocked lane for the center or right lanes.
- By listing the 3 options in a column layout, drivers can confidently select the correct lane simply by the button’s position on the screen, potentially allowing the driver to return focus to the road much sooner. Here’s a mockup of the layout I’m proposing:

Thanks!
