It appears that Waze is configured so that the audible speeding alert is only played the first time you exceed the speed limit within a particular speed zone. If you subsequently reduce your speed and then exceed the limit again while remaining in the same speed zone, Waze always provides a visual warning but does not repeat the audible alert. The audible alert is reset only when the vehicle enters a new speed zone with a different speed limit.
In my view, the audio alert must repeat whenever the speed threshold is exceeded, rather than only the first time within each speed zone. This would provide more effective driver awareness and help reduce the risk of unintentionally exceeding the speed limit. Both the speed limit icon and the speeding warning icon should be significantly larger to improve visibility while driving. In addition, the audible alert should be louder (if possible).
