I just left Google Maps for Waze, and had the same issue with Google Maps, lack of TTS. Of course, there were other problems, such as the GPS tracking wasn't accurate, but that's another story.
My point is, I'm beginning to wonder if software developers feel as though it's not worth it to create apps for BB, because Android is the new thing. I think this does us a great disservice, as there are still millions of BB users. I myself may be a freshman college student, and use BB for the convenience of having the majority of my life in one place, but most of RIM's clients are businesses or government contractors; i.e., independent adults who travel and have a need for reliable, up-to-date software.
I find the lack of TTS for BB incredibly frustrating, and while that is the main issue I hold with the app, there are many other people who do use all the other features. It is important that all the features work. We absolutely need a major update.
