    It's not just Bluetooth. I have an older car so I use a remote control aux cable plugged into my audio; when I run Waze on an iPhone I'm able to use my controls to skip tracks, etc. via the music player that's running in the background. But on my Android phone I'm not able to do this. The music player has to be running in the foreground. Not cool!
