Allow the use of bluetooth controls while Waze is in the foreground.
When Waze is running in the foreground, my bluetooth controls don't work. So I have to do a whole bunch of on-screen gymnastics just to skip to the next track in my queue. This is potentially dangerous while driving. I should be able to use the button on my steering wheel. (It works fine when Waze isn't running.)

it's very frustrating ... if I start Spotify from within Waze then I get no control over the music from my steering wheel controls. If I start Spotify before Waze, then I get to skip/rewind etc. I like the integration between the two, but this rather makes it useless :(

It's not just Bluetooth. I have an older car so I use a remote control aux cable plugged into my audio; when I run Waze on an iPhone I'm able to use my controls to skip tracks, etc. via the music player that's running in the background. But on my Android phone I'm not able to do this. The music player has to be running in the foreground. Not cool!

Please fix this issue. It is illegal in my country to touch my phone while driving. I'm getting sick of having to pull over just to skip the track. If this isn't fixed soon, I will have to stop using your app.

I have the same issue. It's very annoying to have to put waze on background just to change song on Spotify using bluetooth commands.
Other apps on foreground don't do this, only waze. -

This seems to work fine with the mini bluetooth keyboard i purchase on amazon with touchpad. Possible that it could be a bluetooth conflict for you. I noticed that while i was using my voice calls over bluetooht my keyboard did not work the one time i checked. i will need to do some more testing to see if that was the root cause.

It can be interesting to merge all suggestions around Bluetooth on only one.
The request is the same: add waze Bluetooth control on Android like on iPhone.
It will be less dangerous (forbidden in France to use phone without free hand system). there are other interresting suggestions but Bluetooth is mandatory for GPS on Phone.
Waze is really a good soft (replace Tomtom, Coyote and Facebook of the road). Thanks a lot for your job.

I have to concur with Mike, my bluetooth controls do work absoltely file for skipping tracks in Spotify, Media Player and using apps like InTune etc. SGS3 - CM10.1 - Parrot Handsfree

My bluetooth controls (parrot) work fine while using waze. Seems like more of a hardware issue than a software issue.

I have been wondering why the Bluetooth connection to my Garmin Ecoroute HD is lost when I use Waze. Now I know why! I like to use Garmin's Mechanic Android application to help me improve my driving economy. This connects via Bluetooth and the Ecoroute HD transmitter to my car's engine management computer.
So it's not just Bluetooth audio devices that are affected. I'd love if you could allow Bluetooth to work whilst Waze is running in the Foreground.

Because of this problem, I turn WAZE off when I want to listen to music. Which is about 75% of the time I spend in my car. If this were corrected, I would be running WAZE the whole time I spend in my car. Therefore, they would benefit from a fix since that would likely mean more WAZE useage.

Seems like this should be a no brainer since every other Navigation app supports simutaneous music playing/control while the app is running in the foreground.
Are there even any considerations for correcting this issue? -

This is a serious problem on Android. There's no way to use any bluetooth device to control the audio. The only option is to scroll down the status bar and leave that screen open, but that's just plain silly.
