I have many times not noticed Waze wanting me to go off the highway due to accident/slow traffic or whatever.
Usually I don't notice it until I see the map zoom in for the 90 degree turn, and at that point I have already passed the off ramp and the very reason I (or we) use Waze is lost. To navigate past accidents.
Instead I purpose Waze gives clearer visual and audible (even in mute mode) hints that you should turn off the road say 1 mile ahead.
Generally going from point A->B on the highway you don't look very often on Waze.
And if Waze tells you to deviate from the most optimal (in normal conditions) route it should alert you by flashing the screen and audible message (even in mute mode) to alert you that you should not keep going on this route, you should turn.
