How do you know Waze uses the internal GPS antenna ? Please also note, a phone can support many satellite system like GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, GALILEO, QZSS (my Huawei Mate 20 do) while the car infortainment system normally only support the 1st one, the current model could support the second one. This could lead to phone can have a better location sensitivity, even it use the its own, internal antenna. The only exception, is the car can offer all five satllite signals to phone, which I think it is quite unlikely right now.
