I agree. Waze kept telling me to take hwy 1 to go from Wells, ME to Portland (a 29 mile drive that takes an hour). Instead, we had to look at a real map and talk to people to figure out it is better to take I-95, which is only 30 miles away and takes 30 minutes. Once I got smart, I asked Waze to find I-95 and then I found my way to our hotel. Mapquest, however, shows you directions for I-95. Maybe Waze takes you the long way because hwy 1 was no tolls and I-95 charges a toll (a whole $1 LOL).
I wish I had a choice on quickest or shortest routes. I guess we used to have that a long time ago. But today, 10/17/2019, we don't. It kept making me take the longer, slower route and gave me no option to take the quick interestate route that cut the time in half. So now I use the Mapquest app, because Google map does the same thing. I see no choices on either on a choice.
