Need shortest route back, as fastest route can be very expensive.

Since Waze will not give shortest route, what other apps are an option? I do not see shortest route in google or Apple Maps.

Please bring back the shortest route option.
I prefer saving 10 km of gasoline, rather than get earlier by 2 minutes!

Need these options back just like Garmin do Please listen to the uses or we all go back to Gamin and improve that system please take note

This function is a great idea as a lot of the time Waze takes you around the “houses” where it could have been avoided save time and fuel

I vote for some kind of optimum route, as I know from other navigation systems (fastest/optimal/shortest), Recently I wanted to navigate to a new place and Waze offered long 40 km travelling, while online maps found a way only 30 km long, much narrower and direct, maybe - 3 minutes longer. That is really stupid.
Exactly shortest might sometimes saving 500 meter for a very bad road, and that is always not worth either. But today's suggestion (which I refused to follow) made be searching some settings in Waze and finding, it was intentionally removed and made the system way closer to stupidity and user ignorance. User should always be allowed to select what he really wants - not what the programmer of Waze or the Team Lead wants.
Please, keep in mind that you are not programming and maintaining it for yourself! You are doing it for other people. That is the point. And really rarely anybody wants to have 30-50% longer journey to save 3 to 5 minutes.
Wake up!!!

In Southern California, traffic conditions change by the minute so, what Waze tells me will be the FASTEST (at a distance of 3.5 miles longer) inevitably turns out to take longer, due to building traffic congestion. I prefer to take the 405 S at a distance of 15.9 miles, but Waze always tells me that I can save 5 minutes by traveling about 19 miles on the 91 E. It never fails: the 91 E ends up taking about 15 minutes LONGER than originally estimated...all because of typical traffic build up. Seriously...you can set your watch by it. Here's a thought: Instead of shortest route, how about preferred route for locations that I use every day?

What I really want is a kind of slider-option where I can set a preference between fastest route at one end and shortest route at the other end. I don't want to make a detour of 15km to gain 1 minute, but I also don't want to drive 15 minutes longer to gain 1km.

Fastest route is very useful for driving in a busy city but a selection for a shorterst route give user flexibility

Fastest route not reliable as trafic condition is dynamic.

Another in favor of shortest route options. Waze does not seem as accurate as it once was, and multiple times has wanted me to take a route nearly five miles longer when it could send me the shorter way in the same amount of time. A user needs to be able to choose the shortest route, then measure that against the potential extra time it takes. Thanks Waze.

This really needs to come back. And bizarrely seems to have affected normal routing. Waze seemed more accurate and even its fastest routes wasn’t overly a long distance, now they all are long drives.
I also drive an electric and a lease car and each mile counts.
