could you not have both long and short routes....its not rocket science!!!!!An error occurred while saving the comment Wales786 commented
Please give the option for shortest route. Fastest route (set by default) is not the most economical.

I completely agree with John. Frankly, it's incredibly frustrating how long Waze takes to update their system and actually implement quality suggestions and highly voted ideas. This isn’t just a minor delay—it’s been years, and we’re still waiting for meaningful changes that users have been pleading for, like increasing police alert distances. With thousands of votes and comments stacked up, it feels like we're all shouting into the void while the development team continues to drag their feet. The lack of responsiveness is disappointing and makes it hard to feel heard as a community. It’s not just about convenience anymore—it’s about safety, reliability, and trust. If Waze wants to keep users engaged, they need to do better.

Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Let’s be honest, we’re all feeling fed up. It’s genuinely frustrating how Waze continues to drag its feet when it comes to updating the system and implementing high-quality suggestions, especially those that have received overwhelming support from the community. These aren’t minor tweaks we’re asking for — we’re talking about features like the ‘Shortest Route’ option, which has been requested for years and still hasn’t materialized.
Despite thousands of votes, comments, and persistent user feedback, it feels like our voices are being ignored. It’s hard not to feel disheartened when essential ideas are buried under silence. Waze’s apparent reluctance to engage with its users makes the platform feel stagnant and disconnected from the needs of real drivers.
This goes beyond convenience — it’s about fuel efficiency, affordability, sustainability, and user trust. The fastest route isn’t always the shortest or most economical, and with fuel prices continuing to rise, we need smarter choices.
Adding a ‘Shortest Route’ option would:
💸 Enable users to make decisions that match their values — whether they prioritize speed, cost, simplicity, or sustainability.
🌍 Encourage eco-conscious travel, reducing unnecessary fuel use and harmful emissions.
⛽ Provide a budget-friendly alternative, especially vital during a time of economic uncertainty.
Waze has built a loyal user base — now it's time for them to show they’re listening and act on the ideas we’ve championed for far too long.
