Possibility to add road closure on CarPlay
Possibility to mark road closed on apple carplay: ofen in Montreal, Canada we have lots of road closure, not reported on waze, causing wrong direction.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're pleased to confirm that this suggestion is planned and we appreciate your input as we continue to enhance our product.

For a point of safety and liability, it's probably really important to get this feature on CarPlay. When someone encounters a closed road, they're probably panicking, unsure of the situation - so they're probably already in an unsafe environment. Making it dangerous is disconnecting the phone from the hands-free device. Waze acknowledges the feature itself is useful by having it available while not in CarPlay, but only increases the risk of an unsafe act by not having it in CarPlay. Someone is Waze compliance and liability needs ot think about this again.

Why not have this feature available? It only makes sense for additional hands free operation. This really was an inconvenience that it made me go that way and the road was closed.

This is a critical function and I can’t believe it’s missing from CarPlay making it only possible to report a closure by unplugging and using your device.
Seeing that there was an update in May that this was planned I was hoping we might see it with iOS 26 but sadly no.
Twice now in a matter of a few weeks have I come across road closures on my commute that I was unable to report.
This should be a top priority for the dev team.

Please get this rolled out. Really, I’m only using the app through CarPlay these days and being able to get an actual reroute due to a closure (rather than just getting routed back to it when you turn away) would be really nice.

We had this and now it's gone. It's crucial to have an alternative route calculated as the lane closure doesn't fit the need. Removing it was one of the more stupider moves

I’d like to request a critical improvement to Waze’s in-car (CarPlay) reporting functionality.
The Problem:
While driving in NYC during UN week, the FDR was completely shut down. Waze kept trying to reroute me back onto the FDR because it did not know the closure was in place. I tried to report the closure, but there was no “Road Closed” option available in CarPlay. Instead, I had to dangerously unplug my phone, unlock it, and manually enter the closure report - something no driver should have to do while in motion.Currently, CarPlay allows drivers to report many other things (construction, lane blocked, police, etc.), but NOT a road closure. This is a major gap: road closures are arguably more urgent than most other reportable events, since they affect all drivers and can waste huge amounts of time if left unreported.
Why This Matters:
-Safety risk: Drivers may be tempted to interact with their phones while driving to submit a closure report.
-Navigation accuracy: Without closure reports, Waze will continue to direct users onto roads that are impassable, creating frustration and inefficiency.
-Consistency: Most other report types are available in CarPlay - road closures should be too.Proposed Solution:
Add “Road Closed” as a reporting option within CarPlay (and Android Auto). This should be accessible at the same tap depth as the other existing report types, ensuring safe, quick reporting from the wheel.Impact:
-Reduces unsafe driver behavior
-Improves route accuracy in real time for the entire community
-Aligns reporting UI with the core mission of Waze: getting people where they need to go as quickly and safely as possible -

Great that the "Road Closed' button appears in the app, but we all know that the app can't be used while in Auto/Carplay mode. Disconnecting to reconnect again once finished reporting is painful, but not as painful as the huge fines if caught touching your phone while driving in Australian jurisdictions.

An essential but not heavily traveled road is shut down for several weeks, and it would facilitate ease of reporting to have this feature.

We need to do this because it’s very helpful for all of us

Understand that the capability may be available on the iPhone app but not when connected to CarPlay. No one should be looking at the app on their phone while driving, so why would the capability not be available on CarPlay? It is not just for convenience, but safety.

I was driving on highway and needed to get off for gas. When I tried to get back on, the only ramp was closed and I couldn’t get new directions for a detour. I drove 20 minutes before I was able to get back on the highway. In CarPlay I wasn’t able to set the closure so I was directed back to the closed ramp. Please just add the closure button in CarPlay.

this is an important suggestion, that will help a lot as more users will be able to mark closed roads from Carplay and that will help other users and editors to keep closures up to date

Agreed. It’s dangerous to unplug my phone from CarPlay so I can report a closed road, and it’s a waste of time for map editors to respond to my ‘map issue’ report, which they often don’t get to in time. I’ve tried reporting the closure via the map editor retrospectively, but I need to be a Level 4 editor which is very annoying. Waze often will try to still redirect me to the closed road if I try driving elsewhere to avoid the closure - especially problematic on motorways. Please fix.
The most critical change to implement at the moment, in my opinion.

Waze, it’s 2025, do better. A community member/user shouldn’t have to unplug or disconnect to make the annotation of a road closure, it’s dangerous and downright annoying - wondering why I wasn’t able to do that task earlier now that I’m parked (mark road closure that myself and many, many others on the route didn’t know about), led me to this forum. This shouldn’t even be a discussion.

THE FACT THIS IS NOT A FEATURE YET COURSES A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY!!!
the fact you have to DISCONNECT your phone from car play while trying to drive with no idea where to go due to a closed road just to tell waze a road is closed is a ******* disgrace!!
while trying to disconnect apple car play just to report a closed road on waze cause a car accident this evening!!
having car play at your fingertips while driving is a safety feature! the fact waze forces you to disconnect it just to a report a closed road is disgusting and this flaw in the system needs to be fixed as matter of URGENCY!
the developers of this should be ashamed of themselves!! VILE!

1. How is this NOT a thing yet?
2. Why can't I hit "vote" on this? Every time I report a map issue as proxy for a road closure, I'm directed here to "vote." Yet I can't vote.
3. Again, how is this NOT a thing??? -

the 10 west (Claremont, CA), map show express lanes but fast trak turns into a standard HOV Lane right before Indian Hill Blvd. The Fast Trak ends and the map shows it for another five miles as Fast Trak, this is incorrect
