URGENT REQUEST TO INSTALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY

Location: Intersection of Jalan Lepai (Langgar - Bukit Pinang bypass) and Jalan Kampung Dalam Kota (crossing over to Jalan Hutan Kampung), near SK Haji Abu Bakar, Alor Setar.

Issue: This intersection has become a high-risk accident zone due to high speeds and heavy vehicle movement.

1. Speeding Vehicles: Jalan Lepai is a long, straight bypass road. Motorists speed because they do not realize an active intersection lies ahead.
2. Heavy Vehicles: The road is heavily utilized by massive commercial trailers and lorries daily.
3. Vulnerable School Children: Young students from the nearby primary school, SK Haji Abu Bakar, must cross or navigate this dangerous path every morning and afternoon.
4. Dangerous Junction Movements: Vehicles from Jalan Kampung Dalam Kota face extreme difficulty turning onto the bypass or crossing straight over into Jalan Hutan Kampung due to speeding traffic.

Requested Action: We urge JKR Kedah to immediately install a traffic light system here to regulate vehicle flow. In the short term, please install speed bumps, rumble strips, and prominent warning signs to slow down heavy traffic before a fatal tragedy involving school children occurs.
