    To turn off the "Thank you" messages it appears that you must do the following:
    Go to settings
    Click Social Networks
    Under the section "Map Chats" unclick "Others may send me Map Chats" and "Others may send me private messages."

    I haven't tried it myself, but I did read about this procedure in another forum. I can't think of anything more useless than being thanked for alerting drivers about a car on the shoulder 300 miles ago.
