    A learner or restricted-driver mode makes a lot of sense, especially when driving rules or personal limits don’t match normal traffic flow. In Switzerland, new drivers often face highway or speed restrictions during training, and routing that automatically avoids fast roads reduces stress and helps keep the drive compliant and predictable. Driving schools already plan lessons this way, focusing on calmer roads until confidence and legal permissions increase.

    This is something training-focused schools such as Scuola Guida Keller already account for in real-world instruction, and translating that logic into navigation software would be a big win. A mode that respects speed caps, avoids highways, and still gives realistic ETAs would benefit learners, restricted licenses, and anyone who prefers safer routes.
