Bicycle Paths
Hi there Waze team, community,
In the view of raising pollution from vehicles and health concerns due to sedentary lifestyle, I think it would be a great idea for Waze to it's bit by marking out biking (bicycle) lanes just like it is so easy to drive around with waze in a car.
This will help people to get around quickly, safely and conveniently. Today in most part of the developed and developing world, bicycles are not given or considered a priority. And in some places it's half hearted efforts for example some central & western European countries where you share bicycle lanes with general traffic.
I feel this bicycle project may be as big and challenging as the navigation project itself.
Probably it could be easier with the size and scale of the waze community in particular and the wider growing concern about health and environment in general.
This is my idea... let me know your thoughts.

The significant technical obstacle to what you describe is that Waze is, at its core, about speed and "beating traffic". It works by measuring the speed of Wazing traffic at different times of day.
If bicyclists were to use Waze, they would severely pollute these speed data. This could foul the very reason Waze exists in the first place.
Consequently, in the US we do everything we can to *discourage* bicyclists from using Waze. It's important that the speed data that Waze acquires be representative of motor-vehicle traffic, not a mix of motor vehicle and bicycle speeds.
It seems unlikely Waze would go for this, as it could harm the foundational algorithms underlying the app (all IMHO, of course).
