I'd love to see Waze introduce selectable driving personalities that determine how routes are calculated, based on how people actually prefer to drive.

For example, a Relaxed Driver personality could prioritize main roads, fewer turns, well-lit streets, and easier intersections, even if the trip takes a few minutes longer. Other personalities could prioritize the fastest route, avoiding difficult left turns, or staying on familiar roads.

This idea came to me while driving home through the country at night. I was only two turns away from a main road that would take me straight home, but Waze instead directed me through roughly ten turns on unfamiliar, poorly lit backroads, apparently to save one minute. I ended up driving more cautiously because of the conditions, and the trip actually took longer.

I'd gladly sacrifice two or three minutes for a simpler, less stressful drive.

I know Waze is introducing personalized navigation, but I think allowing drivers to explicitly choose their driving personality would take this further.

The fastest route isn't always the best route. The best route is the one that fits the driver.
