Absolutely agree.
I need Waze to tell me "in 0.1 miles, turn left onto Bayshore Boulevard" instead of "in 0.1 miles, turn left". Or even better, in 500 feet, use the right lane to take exit number 234". This is what Google Maps does. And it leads to far less driving errors.
On a road with lots of driveways and sidestreets, telling me to turn in 0.1 miles is completely useless. And I should never have to look at the screen while I'm concentrating on making a turn.
