    Hello Folks,

My wife and I live in a motorhome. Although we use a Garmin GPS device for navigation, we also like to use our laptop to give a “big picture” of our current location. For years we have used Microsoft Streets & Trips stand-alone mapping software combined with an external GPS receiver (currently a GlobalSat BU353-S4 small “hockey-puck” receiver) to show our current position. With this software, you can pre-plot a course from A to B. While driving the motorhome, the person-not-driving can use the laptop to see a “current position” icon on the Streets & Trips to show your exact current position along your route.

Unfortunately, in 2014 Microsoft stopped supporting Streets & Trips. Thus, the street locations shown on Streets & Trips are at least 8 years old (most probably over 10 years old). For the first 5 years after this discontinuation, we lived with the street location discrepancies. However, these discrepancies are currently more than we can tolerate.

Bottom line: We are looking for a replacement to Streets & Trips for our laptop. Although we would like to pre-plot a course using this replacement mapping software, this capability is not required. Nor would this mapping software need to be “stand alone” (an interactive, cloud-based mapping ability would do the job just as well). However, we MUST be able to see an icon showing our current position.

Is it possible that your Waze mapping application could show our “current position”?

If not, it is my belief that there is a fortune waiting for someone who can produce this capability.

The primary audience for this capability would be the trucking community, followed closely by the Recreational Vehicle community.

Any help regarding this topic would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks so much for your indulgence.

    Cheers,
