    I have been using Waze for a longer trip and shared that with my beloved such that they can the progress. Obviously I had to take breaks (biologically inspired or just to get gas).
    My mobile is connected to Android Auto.
    Everytime I took a break then Waze has "concluded" that my drive had ended. The shared link would say i reached my goal or stopped sharing.
    Even if I simply resume the navigation the older link would claim that.
    Hence, i need to share my drive after every stop.
    Note that i don't explicitly close the app like describe in https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box/suggestions/4581199-continue-drive-sharing-when-resuming-navigation
