These instructions are critical in the UK. Whilst it is the driver's responsibility to be looking out for give ways, often lack of investment in road infrastructure by local authorities means that line markings practically disappear and Give Way signs get damaged or obscured.
These instructions would be a cost effective life saver for drivers in these situations.
Also, the lack of warnings by apps including Waze were mentioned at a coroner's inquest into the deaths of two young people and their unborn child at the site of one of these junctions where it was practically impossible to determine it was give way.
