Dear Waze Business Development Team,
I’m reaching out with an idea to supercharge Waze for a growing segment of drivers: those navigating with large vehicles like trucks, RVs, and trailers. Picture this—an extension or feature set that layers real-time weather updates and vehicle-specific routing onto Waze’s already stellar platform. I believe this could open new doors for your app while solving real pain points for users.
The Concept:
Integrate two key enhancements into Waze:
Weather-Aware Routing: Pull live weather data (rain, snow, fog, etc.) to flag hazards and suggest safer paths—think avoiding icy bridges or low-visibility stretches.
Large Vehicle Customization: Let users input their vehicle’s height, weight, and width, then tailor routes to dodge low overpasses, weight-restricted roads, or tight turns. Add community reports for truck-specific obstacles, keeping Waze’s crowdsourcing magic alive.
Why It Works for Waze:
Expands Your Audience: Captures truckers, delivery drivers, and RV campers who need more than standard car navigation.
Boosts Safety: Weather and restriction alerts keep drivers out of trouble, aligning with Waze’s focus on smarter, safer roads.
Leverages Existing Strengths: Builds on your real-time traffic data and user community—no need to reinvent the wheel.
How It Could Look:
This could be an in-app extension (e.g., “Waze for Trucks”) or a premium feature. I’d integrate weather APIs like OpenWeatherMap and tap into DOT restriction data, blending it seamlessly with Waze’s routing engine. I’m happy to collaborate on a prototype or flesh out details if there’s interest.
About Me: Retired and traveling the USA in a Class C motorhome pulling an enclosed trailer. I know there are trucking apps, but I love Waze.
Thanks for considering this—I’m excited about the potential to make Waze even more indispensable.
