Į would really like to see this feature added to Waze. Waze is an excellent navigation app, and I especially appreciate its traffic information, alerts and alternative routes. However, the lack of a satellite or hybrid map view is a significant limitation.
A satellite/hybrid view can be very useful when navigating in unfamiliar areas, because it allows drivers to recognize buildings, driveways, parking areas, landmarks, intersections and the actual layout of roads and surrounding areas. Sometimes it is much easier to identify a destination by its real surroundings than by street names alone.
I understand Waze’s goal of keeping the driving experience simple and avoiding unnecessary information on the screen. However, I am not suggesting replacing the current map. It would be much better to simply give users a choice: Standard, Satellite or Hybrid view, while keeping the current map as the default. This would allow each driver to choose the view that works best for them.
This request has been here since 2017, and many users continue to ask for it. Your latest response from October 2025 says that satellite view does not currently fit into the roadmap and may be considered for future product planning. Has Waze reconsidered this feature since the earlier decision? Is there any possibility that Satellite or Hybrid view could be considered for a future version of Waze? It would be very helpful to know whether users can realistically expect this feature in the future.
