Offer a satellite view of the map.
I like how Google maps gives me the satellite view. Why doesn't Waze do that?
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

I don't think waze realize the amount of users they don't have because of this, myself and everyone I know uses gmaps for satellite view but would move to Waze in a heartbeat if they had it.
It would be so easy to implement! Just have it as an option for those who want it and keep the fugly cartoon maps for everyone else.
Very frustrating how close minded the dev team are.

The lack of a satellite view in Waze is the only reason I still use Google Maps for navigation

I do understand the possible changes behind the scenes of the app but i honestly believe satellite roads is safer and more efficient for drivers as it provides a clearer view of the roads being driven on and not confusing drivers as it is confusing with cartoonish roads that nearly blend in together making it hard to understand which roads to take especially on highways. I have personally experienced not only myself but also seen other users of waze experience missing exits and nearly and actually getting on to wrong exits because of the confusing “cartoonish” waze maps. These situations interrupt individuals personal time, as people have many things scheduled, like work, appointments, and business to handle. It also increases risks of people risk taking and injuring and causing of accidents.

For the love of God! What’s the hold up with adding a Satellite view?

It would be really handy to be able to have a satellite view as well as the standard view on Waze and I know many people would like this feature added. I know you have said before it won’t happen, but I think the majority of users would like this.

Please add a Satellite map type option under Map Display → Type. A Satellite view would make navigating in unfamiliar areas easier and more accurate, since it allows drivers to recognize landmarks, parking areas, and road layouts visually. This option would provide an extra layer of detail and flexibility beyond the default map view, making Waze even more user-friendly in a wider range of driving situations.

Integrate a satellite view navigation option into your product!!!! It’s loooonnng overdue. Everyone I know who uses Waze wonders why it doesn’t have the capability to do a satellite 3D image like google, but concurrently show traffic flow and alerts. Get with the program!

The satellite view option would make it easier for people to use their surroundings to navigate better. I know that I personally would rather have the satellite view turned on so I can see the landmarks around the areas where I need to turn. This might not be more helpful in areas that are highly congested with buildings, but would be a tremendous help in areas that are more spaced out. The ability to visually identify the intersections and turns using the imagery is amazingly helpful.

Bonjour,
Cordialement,

I’m just reiterating the same desire as THOUSANDS of other former users. There’s so many navigation apps that have satellite view as an option but Waze refuses to let their users choose between default, satellite or a hybrid version. The users are telling u they want/need the feature and your only response is, (paraphrasing…) “we think that the users benefit more from less info on the screen, we don’t plan on going in that direction.” Which is EXACTLY WHY USERS RESPONSE IS, “…and WE don’t plan on using Waze to go in any direction.” Sad, it’s a phenomenal app. The fact that so many ppl say they want it but u refuse to offer the feature just says you’re not interested in gaining tens of thousands of other users who prefer your platform but don’t like the map view. Hopefully, more people will upvote this post. The other one I saw had thousands of replies but a handful of upvotes. Vote for it people. Once they understand what THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS SAY THEY WANT, they’ll instantly have so many more HAPPY users. TIL then, it’s Apple Maps or Google maps.

That’s why my husband, my two 20 yr old daughters and I don’t use the app. It’s too bad u don’t plan on adding it. I know personally >20-25 ppl who don’t use it and that’s just my small circle of friends. Yes, u have a large base of users but u would totally gain tens of thousands more if u changed it. It’s personal preference. What difference does it make to Waze whether we view it in original or satellite? It’s weird that the company is deciding for us that we don’t need it. I can’t fathom why u would oppose giving drivers their preference. And that’s why I don’t use Waze. Too bad that u guys don’t care enough abt the users to add the convenience that dozens of other nav apps have included.

Google should allow the use of Hybrid (aerial/satellite and transportation) maps on this app. Some points of interest, driveways, landscapes, etc. can only be navigated to if I can see it on a map. Please, and thanks otherwise for offering different alternate routes and features from Google Maps.

Waze would be perfect if a Satellite map view could be an option. I would even pay for this!! Only reason I still use google maps is for the satellite view…. Hope this can be added as an option in for future.

A realistic colour interface for the roads and surrounding would be better like the satellite view.

Greetings Waze associates,
Please add a feature/tool/option that enables a different and realistic map view, much like Google Maps "Satellite View". There's several satellite imagery providers that offers good pictures at reasonable prices, so choosing any shouldn't be an issue.Thank you for your time reading my suggestion.
Sincerely, Mr. Leon

satellite view mode is not there, how it is showing in the Google map. Try to include some of the feature in your waze map app. Also add the road 🛣️ in the top of the map screen where multiple road are there to take the turns in which road, as in other map is showing

I've just been introduced to Waze by my sister after being away together for the weekend. Used it to drive home (5hrs) but reverted to Google about half way home as I could not get it to show a satellite view. Stumbled across this forum when trying to adjust.
I like the rest of the features but will be deleting the App until this is resolved. Not having this option is a real step back from Google.
