waze should work if the GPS is enabled after the app was opened

I 100% agree with this. I have stopped using Waze because of this. How is Waze even allowed in the Apple App Store???

With Waze OFF, and location services set to "WHEN USING", how come I still get notifications to leave using my location services with the mileage and time it will take to get there from where I am currently. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN IF IT'S ONLY TRACKING MY LOCATION "WHEN USING." I have no planned drives so I don't get notifications for this and haven't been there in a year but still get woke up every morning by Waze telling me how long it will take me to get there from my location. SO REALLY THE "WHEN USING" IS A LIE AND DOES NOT WORK. IT ALWAYS USES AND STORES YOUR LOCATION!

I suggest that Waze correct its software so that it ceases to use my location when I am no longer using the app and despite the fact that the default setting is to use my location only when using the app. I would imagine that you are violating some sort of Apple rule or condition by doing this. Even as I write this, my phone indicates you are actively using my location even though I have exited the app. Is this even legal?

I really wish you would have the choice of location sharing when using the app only. I don't like the fact that it's always on. I am sure that I am not the first person to day this!

I would like to ask you how much workable solution is that, like most software, when using GPS, there are 3 options to choose from. Always, while using or never. The Wazze software has only 2 optional options, it is always and never. There is no option 3 during the application. So your phone will use GPS if wazee software is not running. Always turn off the positioning so that the GPS signal does not appear on the phone or dampen the battery. Thanks in advance!

I have reverted back to old version as well and disabled auto-updating of Waze, because I prefer Waze over Google Maps Navigation. Ridiculous situation.

Waze knows about most of their customers don't want their location services to always be running and it is clear by their inaction that they don't care. They probably sell this data and don't want to lose revenue.

Second that!!! Really annoying and bad regarding privacy!!!

Please remove from Waze the newly added requirement for enabling Google Location Services which "anonymously" transmits my location data for big data purposes.

I only want to use my device GPS, but Waze now says "enable GPS", even though my GPS is already enabled, just not location services. And won't let me continue without enabling that. It used to work fine with just my GPS chip, just awesome even. Why force me to use another app? Even Google Maps Navigation lets me use it with device-only GPS!

Furthermore to all comments relating to this request, when settings are set to "always" it eats up a LOT of data on the cellphone plans. I started using Waze again in the last 2 month and each time i wish to use Waze, I have to go into the settings, change from "never" to "always", use Waze app, then turn off the settings again after. I've had Waze for over 2 years and after this past month, I remembered why I stopped using it.

This way of configuring the application is also really intrusive and not leaving the choice to the end-users. I will simply stop using the service since I want to maintain the choice over when I'm sharing my data without always toggling the switch to enable and disable tracking.

There is no need to provide Waze data when I am not using the app. This has privacy concerns and that's why I am deleting Waze. It sucks my iPhone battery and is disregarding privacy. Even Google who owns Waze has that option for Google Maps.

Location when using App option, please.

When its on "Always" it tends to drain the battery quicker then when its using the location only when using.

Could you update the app to only have the location services run when the app is in use? It runs the battery down quickly.

the finder could have the option of "active during the use of the application" instead of having the option always or never.
