I need waze to continue navigation after minor power interruption to android auto. It stopped doing this a couple of months ago please reinstate.

This worked on IOS but now I have android, Waze stops when I lock the phone. How do I stop this from happening. I use this on my motorbike with bluetooth navigation instructions. I then need to record my milage for work, but nothing is getting recorded because i lock my phone.

Cloud203 is mid-informed, this has nothing to do with iPhone settings.

Open the WAZE app and go to settings > general > Turn OFF prevent auto lock

This is so frustrating, Waze support says "this is how it is intended to work". This is so inconsistent. Sometimes Waze will navigate the entire way while running in the background, but other times it will just completely stop halfway. It should work in the background.

This isn't a Waze issue, this is your phone's fault.It's killing the app to preserve battery since it detects that it's running in the background and "Not being used".

Read up on your phone settings, and adjust them accordingly. I'm sure "Waze" isn't the only app that kills itself with the screen off. The explanation above is why.

I'm getting same problem with Android Phone (Mi Note2), when riding my motorcycle with screen-off, waze stops after around 2-4 minutes. Interesting that nowadays we've even at Waze a Motorcycle selection veichle, however does not work with screen-off which I cannot understand (I'm using an helmet BT device). Please Waze, correct the issue.

There is no network where I live, so I configure waze in my house using wifi, then walk 5 min to go inside my car and ... waze not running anymore ... well, thanks ...

I also use it with the phone into my pocket because if I keep the screen on, it makes my phone become a grill, so it could be nice if you can add an option to prevent app closing when phone screen turning off.

Turning OFF Prevent Auto-Lock in General settings worked for me on the iPhone.

This is really needed, very useful as motorcyclist and want to keep my phone in my pocket, just listening audio instructions. Please fix it

Hopefully this is addressed, but for now something like Touch Lock works well.

Prevent auto lock did not fix it on my Android phone. Let me add my voice to the chorus of motorcyclists who NEED Waze to keep running with the screen off and phone in the pocket!

I was able to fix it on my iPhone going to settings in the app, general settings and turning off prevent auto lock.

I am experiencing the same problem. Even though I like Waze better than Google Maps, I have stopped using WAZE. I hope this problem can be fixed in the future.

Motorcyclist here who'd really like to use Waze with the screen off

Similarly as Jim Roal I am using an Android car head unit. When I turn of ignition, the unit enters sleep mode. When I then restart, for example, after a short stop or fuel up, Waze has stopped navigation. Very inconvenient.

I drive a motorcycle and it's way easier than getting distracted by watching the screen to hear the directions. Being able to run Waze when the display makes sense. This is a much needed improvement

android auto - when phone goes into screen lock the navigation stops. I have seen post about and option in setting to "prevent lock" but that is not in the settings I have available. anyone any ideas - I would like to use app but when it only navigates for a minute it is useless.
