Stop changing language when you cross the border
I don't know if it's my phone or waze, but I'm taking a trip around Europe and every time I cross a border the voice commands change language. And it's not even the language of the country, I'm in Italy now and it switched to French. My native tongue is Dutch but I'm from Belgium so I speak a bit of French but it would still be nice just to keep the language I selected.

This is crazy! I don't even understand how this could have been implemented in the first place!
Even worse than the language, it also resets the vehicle fuel type! So next time you try to find a gas station, you won't see the correct prices, or you might even go to one that does not have the appropriate fuel type! -

Anyone here still facing this problem? I may have found the fix. If you have signed into Waze using your google account then please go to google account settings and find languages. You will probably see more than 1 language listed based on the countries you have logged in previously. I had at least 3 languages. Waze would generally change the language to my native language (not English).
Remove the languages you do not want in your google account and let me know how it goes.

2023 still here. I often open Waze in the taxi to get an idea of how far we are from the hotel. I just did that in Japan 2 days ago, and now Waze thinks I speak Japanese. Someone on the forums says essentially "it's your own fault for using a TTS voice." What? Choosing something in my own language means I'm now obligated to speak the language of every country I visit? That makes no sense!

This absurd problem has persisted since 2015. The last time I found it on December 8, 2019 when I entered France from Italy and the language set itself in French.
Fortunately Apple does not do these oddities and the IOS of my iPhone does not change its interface from Italian to French.
I would like to know how long it takes for Google to understand that this is a BUG and not a feature !!! -

Same issue here since years. I have switched to Sygic because of this shit and never looked back at Waze.

If i go to a country and i don't know the language, i want the directions on my native language, not something i can't understand...

When crossig the border Waze changes not only the language, but the format, i,e. adds street names, for example. That is the last thing you need at the moment. And usually, it is impossible to stop and change the settigns immediately. It is definitely inconvenient. Dear Waze, please, don't change languages at the country bordes.
