Waze android auto: zoom in/out from the joystick
Waze in android auto should allow us zooming in/out from the multimedia joystick like we can do with google maps.
Maybe it would be intersting a new botton called zoom to highlight it and then we could move the joystick.

Using a Kenwood DNX997XR without the zoom control and no pinch zoom the map is unreadable. I guess I need to turn off the speed and Speed limit to see it? Its there when stopped and gone when I move.
Why not MOVE the Speed signs and make them readable. Even better a small mid large text box speed sign. Let the user decide what they want on the map.
Waze is great I use it all the time and on a BIG Cadillac screen its fine I pinch zoom and can BARELY see the speed limit. But on a $1000 7" Kenwood I need to switch to Garmin to see the map and streets when I'm driving. -

100% agree, this new update has butchered Waze, unusable and really annoying when trying to navigate streets with lots of roads

Fully in line with you... What you report is a massive issue !
Honestly, the AA version of Waze is almost unusable because of the incapacity to zoom in/out on the map.
As you briefly explained, the zoom widget is superseded by the speed indicator as soon as the car moves :(
Having no capacity to control the zoom function is extremely detrimental. I'm a big fan of Waze but because of this zoom regression I'm testing Google Map, Coyote & TomTom Go to find an alternative to Waze.
Very sad... What a pity to have such a feature not available while many others navigation application enable it. -

I definitely agree to this proposal: zooming in and out using a console knob or key is a must.
Furthermore, a zooming in-out vocal command would be a great feature to add.
