Slow down & move over warning for Emergeny Responders
Warn motorists of Emergency Responders (police cars, tow trucks, ambulances) with a Slow Down Move Over warning. Lives are being lost at alarming rates and any support of the move over laws are greatly appreciated.

Yes this needs to be put into place! As a tow operator we see this daily that drivers are not paying attention and this may help them realize ahead of time that they need to move over ahead of time

I don't believe it won't change a single thing. I believe that getting one of the drivers who have navigation on to move over changes something. It has the chance to make the driver behind that one to follow suit as I have seen happen. I also agree that training is key to keeping our loved ones alive or at least keep them from being killed. We preach and train non-traffic side when working the trucks, we preach keeping your head on a swivel and to be aware of your surroundings the entire time. Unfortunately, this too is not enough. I also agree that killing a screen would be a great idea although it is not an option when the newer cars all have the screens built in taking the place of cell phones. I will not just point fingers at who is in the wrong and will continue to fight for a safer place for this world and our first responders who put their lives on the line everyday.

Won't change a thing. SDMO laws or devises won't matter if the person is not looking through their windshield. These devices or laws only serve to create income for those enforcing or selling them. If you really want to help, develop training programs that give first responders the skills to keep themselves safe. There is one other solution as well. Kill the screen. Kill the screen of every cell phone traveling above 5 mph in any vehicle. If they can't use it, they won't be looking at it.

Helping save lives by adding an alert is a start. The towing industry especially is seeing far too many motorists that do not slow down or move over. Believe me, when you are working a scene, loading a car on the side of a very congested roadway - having to keep an eye on traffic...makes for a very stressful & dangerous job. It only takes a couple of seconds of passing motorists time, to slow down & move over. If they don't & a life is lost because they chose to stay in the lane at normal speed.....you have a family forever changed because of that motorists poor decisions. I have a family that I worry about every day & I commend @waze for bringing awareness & trying to make a difference!

We are getting noticed. =) In this industry it is easy to feel like we are climbing a very high mountain to reach people and their awareness when driving on the roads. It feels like small wins when we move over and the cars behind us follow suit. Thank you to all who have helped make this noticeable and we appreciate all you do in the name of safety. Keep up the good work!!!

I would be happy to personally testify to the value of this initiative and consult on how this could easily be integrated into most all tow comapnies software to alert waze on where motorists need to be aware.
