The new one is much too streamlined, just a standard Waze avatar.

Ever since last year, the Old Waze Monster is being replaced by the New Waze Monster.
Please compare and vote for the Best Looking Waze Monster.

There should be more options for alternate routes when choosing the "routes" option. I have 3-4 ways home from work all on minor highways or major roads, and I Waze never suggests anything other than two highway routes. TomTom always offers more suggestions.

About 90% of the time I get NO alternatives at all! I consider that to be a bug. In fact, it's frequently so aggravitating that I end up not using the app at all. Many times the only route available I can't take due to HOV restrictions in my area.

I'm looking for an option that shows a eco route that has no traffic (or little) and as fast as possible. The two current options, don't always give you that choice.

Create a new type of routing for joy rides. The name could be "Explore".
Waze will generate a route to the user discover his neighborhood and/or help improove waze with cookie munching.Rationale: many people get in their cars, bikes or bicycles and go for a ride, just for the pleasure, to know more about the neighborhood, to see some countryside etc. Currently no GPS device or app has a way to helping the users in this. This would be a differentiating feature for Waze and also would help improve Waze database with driving data.
More details about the route:
-If the area has unconfirmed roads Waze will prioritize that (cookie munching). If the area map is complete, Waze can prioritize landmarks or other POIs to make the trip interesting.
- User can define desired time limit or distance limit.
- User can choose to prioritize Highways, avenues or streets. Other normal routing options like avoid toll roads, will also apply.
- The route will end at the start point. -

I shouldn't have to do a google search to find this out - most woudn't bother. Why can't you say "Prefer help waze validate roads". There may be others too.

Cookies (or half-cookies ?) should appear for each street where there is no speed data yet for the current time period.
This would invite people to take these streets at a time no wazer has never taken this street before and would increase a lot accuracy for speed average calculations inside waze (especially when the wazer uses the cookie-munching option).
I think giving the average speed for a segment at a given-time is an important information

Another option, which I have seen in Verizon Wireless's VZ Navigator, is finding the "simplest" route (i.e. fewest turns).

The ability of Waze to calculate alternative routes is a strong one. But it can be made better.
Currently, Waze offers a few parameters that influence the calculation of routes. "Fastest", "Shortest", "Avoid Highways", "Minimize Turns", and "Prefer cookie-munching". Offcourse the routes that are calculated always are a trade-off: often a route without highways is not entirely possible or impractical; some turns always must be made and nobody expects "prefer cookie munching" to route through ALL roads with cookies.
By calculating alternative routes you get 3 routes of different length and duration. You can compare the different length and duration, and select whatever is best for you. But if you are interested in cookie munching, you can not see how many cookies the different routes bring**. If you prefer to minimize turns you can not see which route has the fewest.
Suggestion: Show a few more values for these alternative routes, and show them sorted by one of these values.
Also, a preference for different road-types could go in. Avoid highways, freeways and dirt-roads. Avoid ferries (we do not have them yet in Waze, but...) Prefer non-toll-roads. Have all of these prioritized.
**) Currently, if you have "prefer cookie munching"on, you do not get alternatives at all. I consider that to be a bug and hope Waze will work more consistent in a future release.
