Darker night mode
The night mode is way too bright and distracting while driving at night. We need the option for a black background rather than light grey. Google Maps night mode is excellent for this, follow that example!

Currently roads are darker then background, should be the other way around. Still an issue in 2023

Waze needs a real Dark Mode for night driving. The current grey color scheme is way too bright at night. I use this on a Sync 3 display with Android Auto. Using Waze while night driving is way obnoxious because of this. Check out Google Maps for a much better use of colors for a proper Dark Mode scheme.

Navigation with completely dark mode and very reduced graphics, only showing the major streets around and arrows (also don't display android status bar).
This would save a lot of battery on OLED display devices. Also distracts less and less reflections in the window. -

Agree, the gray background is much too bright. Shines brighter than my stereo or anything else in the car. And putting black streets on a gray background?! Doesn't make sense. Have to keep turning my brightness all the way down. Then not enough contrast to see the streets. Version on my old windows phone had black background and white (or blue?) streets. Exceptional contrast and visibility.

In the night there is darkness. The basic colour is black. While driving you see white and red lights of cars in a black environment.
Most dashboards look the same. In a black background you see coloured numbers and meters. There is no distraction from other light.
The nightmode of Waze 3 looked the same.
Then there was Waze 4.
The basic colour became GREY. It is a source of light.
When you try to dim the light, you dim everything, because there is no contrast between the grey backlight and the other information on the screen.
The backlight of the nightmode should be BLACK instead of grey to be in harmony with the dashboard, with the road, with the night.
In the night I want to dim the lights in my car. Please help me by dimming the light of Waze. Thank you. -

I always use Waze, but the night mode "dark" screen background is WAY too bright. Drop down the black level to black, not gray please. Running Waze on an iPhone 6S Plus, so the screen is quite large, and the brightness of the night screen is too bright to be safe. This is dangerously bright.
