Request cancelled webpage with more info
On follow my drive, if you type in the URL incorrectly, or if the other person turned off waze, you get a "Request Cancelled" message on the web.
I have an IT background, so I understand the meaning behind "Request cancelled". But most people I know have absolutely no idea what that means.
The page should say a bit more, in layman's terms. Kind of like a 404 page. For example:
Sorry, this user's drive is not currently viewable. This could be because of several reasons:
Check your URL. Maybe you mistyped it?
The user is not connected to Waze at the present. This could be due to many reasons: the app on their phone has stopped, their phone has gone out of range, or they have closed Waze on their phone.
Are you checking a URL sent to you more than 24 hours ago? Waze changes your URL every so often, please ask the user you're following to send you their latest URL.
If you've got the right URL and the user you're following is active, this is probably just a temporary issue. Please reload this page in a few minutes when the problem resolves.
Ideally, waze would check to see what the cause of the problem is (user voluntarily disconnected, user stopped sending data, URL is invalid, etc) and give you a targeted page according to the error. If the problem is that the user stopped sending data, the page would reload every 30 seconds or so, so the user doesn't have to keep reloading manually.
