Ghost driver alert
A new alert would be interesting to have to alert drivers on a specific route that a ghost driver is coming their way and that they should be cautious, maybe telling them to stay in a lane and to reduce their speed.

Waze Ghost Driver Notification Feature Idea
Concept: Integrate a real-time ghost driver notification system into Waze to enhance driver safety and awareness.Functionality:
User Reporting: Drivers can report suspected ghost drivers (vehicles traveling in the wrong direction) through the Waze app. This could involve:
Selecting a dedicated button while driving in the opposite direction of traffic.
Reporting through voice commands while using the app's navigation.
Uploading dashcam footage directly to the app (optional).
Data Verification and Alerts:
Waze verifies user reports using multiple data points:
Opposite direction of travel compared to map data.
Corroborating reports from other users in the vicinity.
Potential dashcam footage (if available).
Once verified, Waze sends real-time alerts to all drivers in the affected area:
Audible and visual warnings within the app.
Textual descriptions of the ghost driver's location and direction.
Option to reroute drivers away from the potential danger zone.
Additional Features:
Implement a gamification system to incentivize accurate reporting (e.g., badges, points).
Allow users to filter ghost driver alerts based on severity or location.
Integrate with emergency services in case of confirmed ghost driver incidents.
Disappearing Alerts: After a set period of time or once the ghost driver is no longer detected, the alert would disappear from the map to prevent cluttering and ensure accuracy.Benefits:
Increased Safety: Proactive warnings can help drivers avoid ghost drivers, reducing the risk of accidents.
Improved Situational Awareness: Real-time information empowers drivers to make informed decisions on the road.
Community-Driven Approach: User reports contribute to a safer driving environment for everyone.
Reduced Response Time: Faster notification of ghost drivers can aid emergency services in responding effectively.
Challenges:Verification Accuracy: Ensuring the validity of user reports to avoid false alarms.
Data Privacy: Protecting user anonymity while collecting necessary data for verification.
Technical Feasibility: Integrating the system seamlessly into the existing Waze app infrastructure.
Overall, this ghost driver notification feature has the potential to significantly improve road safety and awareness for Waze users. By leveraging user-generated data and real-time alerts, Waze can empower drivers to make informed decisions and create a safer driving environment for everyone.Additional notes:
Consider integrating with local law enforcement agencies to verify reports and provide real-time updates.
Explore partnerships with dashcam manufacturers to streamline footage upload process.
The feature's design should be intuitive and user-friendly to encourage adoption and accurate reporting.Example: Waze partner/waze user putting into ghost driver notification, all users heading into that direction within a 10km distance of reporting point, get a visual and audible notification in the app alerting drivers, for example "Ghost driver, moderate speed, stay vigilent".

Would it be usefull to implement a Ghost rider alert?
At the moment a Wazer detects a ghost rider, (s)he could send out the alert. Waze engines could calculate the path(s) the ghost rider will drive and alert all (approaching) users in the wider area.
Ghost rider alerts from official instances can also be included...
The alert will disappear when other Wazers do not confirm the alert.
