    WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO TEXT OUR PLANNED DRIVES TO OTHERS, SO THEY CAN KNOW AND UNDERSTAND WHAT TIME THEY NEED TO BE AT THEIR "START OR LEAVE" LOCATION. ESPECIALLY, IF THEY ARE CARPOOLING FROM THE SAME PLACE. ASIDE FROM PICKING THEM UP ALONG THE WAY.

    xmpp texting

    it's already very popular plus xmpp texts are zero cost and don't require proprietary apps

    and xmpp runs on EVERY platform not merely a phone
