Update "auto focus" on notifications
I use Waze on my Android linked with Android Auto in my Mazda CX5. It has a display, but not a touch screen. When it comes up with a notification like "vehicle on shoulder" I can never get the focus to stay on "Not There" or "Still There" because every time the mileage updates, the focus jumps to the "Search" icon. Do not change FOCUS when mileage updates.

This issue occurs in iPhone devices as well. The notification is not in focus. Since there is no touch screen, one has to select still there or not there with a dial wheel or similar. If the notification was in focus, it would be either press a button, or move the dial wheel to the other selection and then press a button. These are reasonable safe operations and can easily be performed using muscle memory (i.e., one does not need to move the attention to the screen or the dial wheel). The current situation is completely unsafe. One needs to move the dial wheel and look at the screen to make sure one gets to the proper selection -- which happens to be fairly difficult, and not recommended. Just for safety reasons, this should be fixed.

I have the same issue with a 2023 Mazda 3. The UI desperately needs to be improved for non-touchscreen Android Auto use. This is one of several frustrating things about Waze in a non-touchscreen environment.

Came here to post this same suggestion. It seems they should put in an option to have it "Focus" on the notice dialog, that way it's either an Okay (agree with prompt) or a 1 scroll to disagree.
Otherwise we may need alerts for "Driver up ahead is trying to reply to a Waze alert" .. alert.

I drive an i3. It has rotary controls similar to the Mazda(s).
Maybe when a popup notification comes up, let us users rotate/scroll to the part of the screen it appears.
On my setup, notification appears to the left. AA driver seat location is left for me; and Navigation is set to display closer to the driver.
